i see a number of people recommending northwoods (a decision i made about a year ago) but typically they're talking 3.0c's. after scanning the cpu power consumption page http://www.cpuheat.wz.cz/html/IntelPowerConsumption.htm, i found that there's a ~12W jump (and V jump) when going from 2.8c to 3.0...

got myself a neoHE380 to go with the new case. system works great as long as i don't plug in a 3rd hdd, but then it takes quite some time for the system drive to power up. (a 5400rpm WD) i know my power consumption is nontrivial, but i expected more headroom than i found. i've read recently that mod...

well, since personal experience with motherboards varies so wildly, (really, one home consumers dataset is miniscule, hardly representative of the market. aggregating inferred brand opinions doesn't seem like it's worth much. that said, i'll contribute. :) favorite: Tyan - if i was a rich man, i'd h...

heavy drive suspension?
i've got a pair of half-height scsi drives that i'd like to suspend in hope of quieting them, but given the weight of each, i'm wondering if the typical solutions are robust enough to be reliable? the system will be immoble, if that makes a difference. anyone have experience suspending heavier drives?

NMB "zomg quietest fans evar" @ xoxide
ok, thier website pimps it up, and given the cheapness factor, i'm willing to give them a try if anyone else hasn't. anyone have any experience with xox, or with the NMBs? (my difficulty is in finding 60mms that can be reasonably called "quiet", i understand that fan size isn't really condusive to s...
