Its the NB fan that makes the most noice,4500 rpm is not special under load, and maybe you could suspent your HD

it sounds like a power suply problem, what brand do you have and perhaps you could post some speed-fan readings and some more system information would be nice

i bought 2 dekstops from dell for my parents who dont want touble just working and good service. when i turned them on i was supriced about the low noise, p4 usualy sounds like airplain, but dell seems to do a prity good job keeping their system quiet.

currently socket 939 only support T1 when you are using 2 memory banks, when you are going to use 4x512 your memory can only run on T2, wich is much slower, +/- 300mb/s

Sempron on Socket A got no cool n` quiet, and changing MP on the FLy ( in OS ) is not the smartest thing to do.
