looks like asus has a passive heatpipe nforce4 board http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/tradeshows/2005/Computex/day2/a8nslipremium.jpg and possibly the biggest let down "We mentioned in our first coverage of Shuttle's Pentium M solution at CES that the solution was going to launch with support for...

the price sounds OK, what i got out of it was: $2k for the custom die (used to make the extrusion) then in order to avoid a fee you need to get 1500lbs minimum but the cost is $1.62/lb --- your design does not place the fins in an optimal orientation for passive cooling and would probably still need...

you can try NullPacketStripper for merging .ts streams, not sure about splitting them. for actually editing them, you could try HDTVtoMPEG2 , which can convert the .ts streams into mpeg2 ps (vob i suppose), which can then be edited with standard vob/mpeg2 tools. this forum may be helpful. hdtv2mpeg...

is extruded aluminum really that expensive? no its not, it only looks expensive you make a die, cost 1K - 3K then you buy the extrusion by the foot, usually a 1000ft minumum to be cost effective. the price per foot depends on weight, but usually not much more (% wise) than the cost of the raw mater...

actually the dvi port also outputs an analog signal (same reason you can use a dvi - vga adapter), the software (aka drivers) output a different colorspace. The dongle is nothing special, i soldered my own cable db15 to 3 bnc, it works the same except there are no jumpers to set the resolution, that...

Dont claim any guru status in this area at all, but my ATI cards (Rage128 & 9200SE) run just dandy under linux. Both are passive h/s - the 9200SE is w/DVI. Am only running lowish resolution (1024*768) but dont see the point in getting carried away: the UK DVB-T signal is way less than that, but sho...

if A-tech can manage to fit 80mm rear fans and ful size expansion slots in a case of 14cm in height.................. why can't SS? because A-Tech uses a really thick aluminum chassis with no bends - therefore more room for fans, SS has 3 bends in the steel to keep it from flexing (or bending), a m...
