xsensors is ia GTK alternative to ksensors. gDesklets (GNOME's karamba clone) can also display temperatures and the like. There's also an GNOME panel applet that can display (and optionally graph) temperatures. Use the MBM website to find the hardware monitoring chip your board uses. Uncomment the ...

The coils on my Abit IC7-G squeal when I maximise or minimise a window. It sounds as if there's a little chipmunk playing a violin (really!). This is with a S12-430. My Phantom 350 made the coils hiss when scrolling. Other components are: P4 2.8C, XFX 6600GT AGP, IBM 180GXP 120GB, Audigy 2. Unpluggi...

I actually think it looks pretty decent for a standard case. The recessed bays are really nice. Flush, they're too slick and smooth. Not a fan of the aluminium front panel (a bit too cold; some iPod-style white plastic might look nice instead). Don't like the drive covers either - they would go stra...

Get 12V, 7V or 5V for your Fans
Sorry if I wasn't clear in my last post, but the Nexus might not start at 7V. My Nexus is connected to the motherboard, and is controlled by SpeedFan.
I haven't used, or owned, the Papst so I am unable to speculate on its relative performance; sorry.

I thought the memory heatsinks weren't really necessary? The stock cooler on my 6600GT didn't cool the memory, and I didn't bother with the memory heatsinks that came with my VF700. But as long as you ground yourself, I can't see that scrapping a memory chip a bit cause damage. I've even bashed my s...

Barenaked Ladies - If I Had $1,000,000 (only started listening to them recently, but this song sticks out because it's so funny) We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner. But we would eat Kraft Dinner - of course we would - we'd just eat more. And buy really expensive ketchup with it. That's right: all ...
