I use GPU-Z. If your card has sensors, it'll read them.

Need suggestions for an 8800GTS
Hey folks. I just got an EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS. My gaming performance is better, but it's now the noisiest component in my system. Does anyone have any suggestions on a quieter/passive cooler for it?

I was with you until the "Under $40" criteria. IMO the good ones are all in the $80+ range. I Have a Logitech Cordless Freedom that I'm quite happy with. I've also have a Plantronics 655 (awful), and a Jawbone (expensive, kind of uncomfortable, and wildly inconsistant). Fit is important, and is enti...

I'm not sure if I fit in here, but I have a Klipsch iFi speaker system, and a Creative X-fi soundcard. I had an M-Audio Revolution 5.1, but noticed I was taking about a 25% framerate hit under games, so I went with an Audigy 2 and eventually to the X-Fi. The M-Audio did give me slightly better sound...

I'm running a WRT54GL with DD-WRT with big honkin' aftermarket 7dbi antennas. I've been happy with it so far, and it's been in place for some time. I got it right when they released the "L" model, because I wanted to run a better firmware than the stock IOS. As far as the reliability of Linksys prod...

Can you return anything? If so, I'd return: The Seagate, and replace it with a Western Digital or Samsung 2GB of the 4GB of RAM. Unless you have a 64-bit OS, you cannot use all 4GB. And for most applications, 2GB is enough. The money is better spent elsewhere, IHMO. Hope this helps. I should have m...

And DECENT is only what the OP needs. The 1950XT and 8800GTS are good budget gaming cards. They are very powerful, and also very hot. Making them quieter will be expensive or difficult. For only gaming 20% of the time, I don't think the effort of quiting those hot card is worth it. In the OP's situ...

To the OP: I think you should first point out the main use of the system. Without knowing this in advance, how can we tweak your configuration or suggest possible modifications? My needs could be much different from yours, and there is no perfect setup. For the most part, I'm like everyone else; 80...

New system, looking for feedback
I bought a new system last weekend and probably didn't use my best judgment. I based it off what they had on the shelves and was on sale, but I suppose I could have done worse. I got an Antec Sonata III (for $95 yet!), an Asus 8600GT Silent, a Seagate 320 gig Barracuda 7200.10, the stock Intel coole...

Has anyone tried this processor in a desktop S754 board yet? Would it give me a discernable performance improvement over my 3400+ Newcastle?

Why not use an external USB reader..? If you dont need a floppy-drive that is, if you need on those then the Mitsumi might be worth it. Simple aesthetics and convenience. Most of us have enough clutter around our machines as it sits, and another set of cables and external box in my workspace isn’t ...

Are there any plans to procure a sample and review it? Especially against the new semi-fanless Phantom. Enquiring readers want to know!

I got mine on 03/10/05, Serial #D0412550xxxx. I purchased it at Central Computer Systems in San Francisco. I'm running an Athlon64 3400+ on an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe, with 1.5 Gigs of RAM, three Seagate 7200.7 drives, a LiteOn combo drive, a Pioneer DVR108 DVDR and a floppy drive. It's been fine so far....

Opera, Firefox, and IE in that order. at most times, I'll have all three open but I use the Opera 8 Beta for the majority of my browsing. As a former Netscape employee, I'm a wee bit picky about my browser functionality. Besides, it's only a matter of time before someone starts tailoring badness for...
