I tried to duct the CPU exhaust out the side of the case where the ANTEC logo is punched into the metal. that was actaully worse than not ducting. If I use the rear fan then I loose a case fan and the case gets pretty hot. The sucking configuration doesn't seem to work real well in this setup. This ...

I was considering the Panaflo, but in the recomendations, it does not seem too appealing. I guess anything is better than the Zalman fan, that thing is so loud, even at 5V. I need something that is going to be quiet at 1200-1400RPM and then not sound like a lawn mower at 2000RPM when gaming. Maybe t...

Sorry, the Nexus fan is mounted on an XP-90. The Nexus fan is then attached to a 90-80mm fan adapter and then mounted to the duct.

Fans

I knw there is a recomendation section on the website for fans, but there are only 3 92mm fans listed. That doesn't give me many options. I was wondering what people might suggest for my setup shown below. Currently I have a Zalman 92mm fan which sounds like a jet even at 5V. I need something quiete...

Get the Seasonic S12, that is an awesome PSU. If you are going to NV silence a 6800GT, get the cheapest one (PNY, Roswelle etc...) If the leadteck is the cheapest one go with it.

Be careful with the paste on the CPU becuase the XP-90 sits oddly in my socket and it slides around during install. I pul a drop on the CPU during install and the XP-90 went all over during install due to the clips being hard to get to.

I have never tried a system blower that is quiet. The Antec in particular is not very quiet, in fact it is loud. Plus for the $15 that the system blower costs, it just makes sense to buy an NV silencer unless you want to do custom intake mods! :D

Go with the Seasonic S-12! Even when pushing a full load during heavy gaming, it is more silent than the NV5!

Edirol There is no video card heatsink that I know of that pulls in cool air from a duct, that would have to be done custom. Thermaltake makes a silent cooler with no fan that has a Cu heatpipe that sits outside the case. Again, this does not serve the dual purpose of removing hot air from the case ...

I am a Noobie to these forums, so take my opinion as for as you like! :D I have a "silent" gaming rig and have tried all sorts of differnt hardware and now am trying mods. As far as the 6800 is concerned, the stock fan, at least on the reference model (PNY, eVga, Roswell, etc...) is a tiny blower an...

Extensive mods are welcome here! :D I am having the most problem trying to keep the machine silent while trying to cool down the P4 3.2 prescott. To keep the machine quiet, I have to run all the fans at 7V or below. Those dang Vantec 120mm fans get so loud at higher speeds. I got my hands on a coupl...

Bluefront, that is almost exactly what I was thinking of doing. It is nice that the Silverstone CPU cooler lined up in the socket that way (i am sure you planned that though. I am curious what kind of temps you get at the CPU under load? What types of fans are those 120mm? What speeds (or volages) d...

That is Acoustifoam from http://www.acoustiproducts.com/

There is a precut set for Sonata, it is expensive, but it really makes a difference. If you are serious about silencing the computer you should get this stuff.

Has anyone ever tried this?

Hey guys, I have view about every article on this website, but this is my first post, I hope it is not wasting everyones time. I have this obsurd sounding idea, and I was wondering if by any strange chance anyone has thought of the same thing or has on opinion on it. My goal here is to make the quie...
