I have an Ati Silencer 5 rev. 2 on my x800gto and i''m desperate. From day one it clicked like mad when connected to the card. I have no idea how Arctic Cooling tests those fans but PWM is turning them into clicking beasts. I somewhat reduced the PWM clicks by connecting it to an analog fan co...

Double enclosure is probably overkill, but i bet would make even the noisiest drive dead silent  187x118x38 as the first box placed with gel packs around in a 222 146 55. The best size without wasting space has to be like this : First box without middle screw mountings :170x120x35 Second bo...

Sorry for bumping such an old thread but i need some opinions. Standard hard drive dimensions are 146 x 101 x 25mm. What do you guys think, will a SATA spinpoint fit in a 171 x 121 x 55 Aluminum Die-Cast Box Sealed with some gel packs around it? I plan to use two of these on my slk3000b's floor, one...

It's not by nvidia, it's from a russian guy Alexey Nicolaychuk aka Unwinder. I'm surprised there are people who don't know about rivatuner yet
IMHO it's the most powerful tool for nvidia users. (ati cards suported as well )

I had it at 7v and manual control from the Akasa fan controler. The problem is that sometimes i forget to turn the fan @ 12v during 3d games and probably the core gets quite hot. So recently i started experimenting with rivatuner's capabilities of setting the fan speed acording to core's temp...

Introducing Seagate's 7200.9: The New Generation Seagate is also reporting a lower sound rating between 25-28 decibels while the drives are idle, and about 28-32 decibels while the drives are seeking for data. Nexus has a good reputation and based only on that i don't think they made a product that doesn't deliver.
I stiil have to see a serious review though.

the toshiba and samsung notebook drives are very quiet, i wonder if it is possible to lower the rpm of an HD from 7200rpm to say 4200rpm only when desired -- not permanently. when, for example, reading text or listening to music or watching dvd. it should be even more silent and cooler running at t...
