Well, personally I'm a sucker for computers built into furniture, so I love this one.
I would build one myself, but I will be moving 13 times in the next five years... Yay, the joys of being a co-op student.

Re: Case Air Flow
2. Am I correct in thinking that PSUs with 120mm fans all blow air out of the bottom and suck air in the back? Wouldn't that heat up the main compartments in standard cases? I think I have seen some case designs with grilles on the top of the case. Er, no. Quite the opposite. The fan draws the air ...

Barton XP-Ms all the same?
Am I right in assuming that all the Barton XP-Ms are basically the same chips, irregardless if they're marked 2200+ or 2600+ by AMD? They just have a different default multiplier setting, right?

How to hook up a heatsink to a bigger heatsink?
Hey, I have a rather big heatsink that will be located somewhere in the general vicinity of my new machine (<20 cm from both CPU and PSU heatsinks). I'm considering using its cooling capacities for the design revision after the one currently in production. The thing is 160x35x50 mm, the fans are 3~4...

I got the Seasonic from MikeC via the Clearance Corner (cheaper and easier than buying from a store). It's very quiet AFAIAC, my CPU's stock fan @ 5V is louder than this one. Depends on your standard of quiet though; YMMV. edit: just saw the price on Newegg. Eek! Nevermind the cheaper comment, altho...

I'd say get the hard drive as well. My hard drive and the PSU (in signature) are sitting right next to next other on an open shelf, neither is suspended or otherwise decoupled. Even though I have a rather quiet PSU (of Breadbox PC fame), I have never heard the hard drive over it, except for the boot...

One thing you could do is unplug the motherboard power connector, turn on the power supply by shorting green and black pins, then measure the voltage on the 3.3V lines (orange wires). I'll have to do that eventually, as Speedfan insists my SS-200SFD is giving me 1.46V on the 3.3V line and reports -1...

People's experiences with sound levels differ. What one considers completely silent may be unacceptably loud to another person, or in another machine. (A 'completely silent' PSU in a machine with a leafblower VGA fan comes to mind.) Personally, I'd go with Brigitte's advice then, since she was able ...

undervolting CPU fan without temperature measurements?
Greetings, My family utilizes a computer featuring a Duron 750 MHz and a generic power supply. To call the thing rather loud would be an understatement, and I want to do something about it. (The CPU is Duron-750, Spitfire core, TDP 28W, MP 31.2W, Max Die Temp 90^C) Heatsink and fan are stock and the...

safe shutdown temperature?
Hey, a while back I saw a product that kept the fans in the computer going for about five minutes after the shutdown. My computer is folding during the day, but I sometimes shut it down at night. As the 100% load CPU socket temperature is ~50^C, I use a poor man's version of the forementioned commer...
