what's the least hot card of these 4670 vs GT220 vs 9400GT
I don't have any gaming requiremetns from the card. Just want something simple with dual dvi (or dvi + hdmi) which i can cool passively and run win7. Also want the PCB to be black (match the rest of the hardware color wise).. :) So thought of the XFX brand.. I can try and make my own silent cooling,...

thanks for the replys :) As for the VF2000 - Silver/nickel isn't black :P And about the Accelero S2 - I actually have it on a card that died (did wonder if maybe the cooler is the thing that killed it). I don't think spray painting a cooler is a good idea, as I think it will harm it's cooling abilit...

a BLACK silent cooler for a HD4650..?
Hey people, Besides the silent bug we all have, i also have a color bug. I want the entire hardware of my upcoming PC to be black . motherboard (evga p55), cpu cooler (thermalright T120B), ram (corsair dominator), PSU.. everything, including the video card and it's cooler. This has proved a bit of a...

btw, what's the difference of SSD's from other flash medias? how come they're "ok" as system disks, how come they handle the writes of the swap file well? or do they? http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=636&Tpk=ssd Some aren't too expensive, but i would still wait half a year or...

the question if there aren't swap file loading as the system starts up before it loads up the usb drivers. doesn't matter if the usb is connected directly to the pins or outside, it's the same thing. Anyway since 8-16gb CF cards might be too little to hold vista anyways, and Readyboost ain't an opti...

mark314: You can't use usb disk on key as a swap file, as Plekto explained, it has to be a physical drive plugged into sata or ide for the windows to work with it. Hmm is there an adapter to connect USB to SATA? would that work :?: I know there's an adapter the other way around. Plekto: Even suppor...

hmm apperntly the 233x RiData card i almost bought doesn't get such good reviews in newegg, users claiming it to be slow: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16820183190 So Lexar is kinda too expensive. think I'll have to settle for an 8gb Sandisk Extreme III with 30mb/s. Just ...

I-Ram isn't very good solution considering the DDR1 and 4gb limitation. I mean even if some of us got DDR400 lying around from old systems, it's usually just a couple of 512mb sticks, and buying some isn't realstic at it's price point. Even if Gigabyte does move ahead and release a DDR-II varaint wi...

i'm sick and tired of the noise of my 5000AAKS. i wanna give it a go and be diskless for OS. I'm thinking of 8GB Extreme III Sandisk 200x CF as the card (30mb transfer rate), will this be enough for XP? It should cost me about $90, and combine it with a CF to SATA adapter like the cheap ones on ebay...

i already have a smart drive 2002, it's not enough. i can get a Sandisk extreme III 8gb x200 version (30mb transfer) for about 90$, i think it will do the job. though i really wish i could get 16gb for this price they're all a lot slower. but there are plenty of other topics discussing this thing, s...

I've just started inquiring today about this topic. I want to eliminate the HDD noise completly in my bedroom system, and I thought why not use a CompactFlash card with an IDE adapter. The UDMA cards are still quite expensive, as i don't really wish to invest more than 100$. The question is will CF ...

I recently was also unpleasantly confronted with the horrible noise coming from my XFX 7800GT card. I considered the zalman or the Silencer. But reviews on the noise were not convincing. At the end I decided to take a chance and buy the Thermalright V1. I know it is not suppose to be compatible, bu...

Do notice the A8N-E uses the same chipset fan as the A8N-SLI, and i know it's a REALLY noisey cricket. so u will have to swap it with something else. Gigabyte here might be the better choice, i do hope that that small heatsink does a good work cooling the chipset. There are now Asus and Abit boards ...

Elixer: Some people are even reaching 2.8 with the stock AMD cooler and these chips. I don't think 2.6-2.7 will be really hard task for a XP-120, even if the fan is weak.. i am crossing my fingers, but if it won't be possible i'll be satisfied with less as long as my computer is silent.. ;) I alrea...

Silent gaming system - Venice + DFI Ultra-D based + O/C + UV
Hey guys! :) I'm in the process of upgrading my system, and would like to put out my ideas and get some feedback! ;) I have a long history of advising people on what rigs to buy, but that's in my own Israeli (hebrew) forum. Still i regard SPCR as the only place to ask about a silent computer. As all...

while on the subject, i just entered thermalright's website: http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_support_faq_motherboard_xp120_k8.htm It says the the Ultra-D got a problem with the XP-120, that you cannot use the first PCI-Express slot.. for some reason i imagined i already saw this board and co...

hey thanks for the info! ;) Guess it's time i start ordering the parts. Actually u didn't get me right about the chipset.. i didn't mean the NB47J. I don't think regular chipset passive cooling can do this. I plan on modifiying an old zalman VGA heatpipe heatsink to fit the chipset.. something like ...

DFI NF4U Ultra-D - Running video on second PCI-Express port
Hey guys.. :) I'm planning on a new system soon. Motherboard of choice is going to be one of the DFI LanParty NF4 series because of their O/C capabilities. Of course being here i'm thinking about quieting it down by replacing the chipset HSF, but as many of us know it's not that simple because of th...

I think this can quite contribute to the effort of PC silencing, especially for those of us that look for a good gaming rig. Right now as i see it most problematic parts to quiet down completly are the video cards, and sometimes the motherboards (depending on the chipset location, like these NF4 tha...
