NSK3400 front fan mounting ?

Almost completed re-housing my system in this case only to discover the front fan mountings are threaded holes !! They appear to be the same thread as HDD mounting screws - is this usual or have I got a 'special' case ? I want to use pull-through silicon mounts so I guess I'll gave to take it all ap...

That's what I did in the end. It was a no-brainer really, - 25pence for a yard of elastic, - £13.00 plus postage plus VAT for a six inch square of very thin Sorbothane

Can't hear the drive and I imagine the suspension method gives much better cooling.

With the ICYBOX the top section of the aluminium case is in contact with the metal casing of the drive.

As for the warranty, you best check this upon receiving the drive. It's better to find out you got an OEM drive at this point than when it fails and it's too late to send it back. Thanks, - it is an OEM drive, - came with nothing but some foam in the box. Didn't know notebook drives were available ...

Seagate ST96812A notebook drive

Thinking of buying a Seagate ST96812A and looking for any comment by an existing user - at £71.09 inc VAT just £4.00 dearer than the older ST960822A. It's a single platter 2 head 60GB PATA version of the ST9120821AS Mike tested. In his review Mike remarked that he thought the idle power was high for...

It sounds really useful stuff.

Wonder if it would serve as a sticky gasket for screwless fan mounting....?

Recently bought an ICYBOX fanless external USB encloure and fitted a Barracuda 120GB drive in it. It runs cool and very quiet stood on a thin piece of foam. I use it mostly as a jukebox and can't hear it over the music.

Available with Firewire and SATA connection as well as USB.

I had the exact same problem, and finally gave up. You could drill some new holes in the drive sled and that would work. I just stuck my drive on some Sorbothane strips and left it at that. I'll be facing this problem shortly. Do you mean you glued the Sorbothane strips to the drive cage and then g...

AOpen XC Cube HDD Mounting

Have ordered an AOpen XC Cube EX18 to re-house my current unlocked XP1700+ T'Bred, and expect to be able to keep the cpu cooler nice and quiet, - but I'm wondering what I can do with the HDD mounting. http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/images/aopenxc915/drivecage.jpg HDD is a Barracuda IV 80GB, whi...

Sempron 2200+ ??

Hi I don't see this cpu listed on the noise/heat rankings page, so I'm assuming AMD have renamed it from something else. Is it a Barton or T'Bred core, mobile or desktiop, locked or unlocked ? Sorry for the dumb questions but I've been out of the circuit for a couple of years. I'm moving my 1700+ un...

Well I could probably knock up something similar myself, but I doubt any cheaper.

Compared to the price of the other options on that page these mountings look a bargain

Has anyone tried these...?

http://www.quietpc.com/uk/harddrive.php#hdrubbermounts If so I'd appreciate any feedback on how effective they are. The task is to fit a Seagate Barracuda IV into the spare optical drive bay in a Soltek QBIC EQ3704 BB system. I have considered the recommended knicker elastic solution, but I intend t...
