I'm still laughing. Xbit labs results show a hard time getting more than 612W DC... even with TWO more 140W 8800GTX's that's still under 1kW... let alone two. Soooo... umm... why the hell would we need 2kW in a gaming rig that can't pull more than the 15A (1650W @ 110V) the standard US NEMA 5-15R wa...

I really don't understand why so many people/review sites are recommending looking at the X38, it's just another overclocker chipset that is almost guaranteed to have higher power consumption with very little benefit. Aka the 680i and 975x, both chipsets I would never touch. Nobody currently needs ...

Anandtech's got not one, but THREE articles on the P35 out now.
I think I'll be skipping P35 and waiting for X38 depending on the improvements and and power consumption.

It only does no additional wear if you shift perfectly . That's extremely difficult to do. Clutchless upshifting is theoretically easy, but in reality I find blipping the throttle on a downshift to make for an easier rev-match. However, 99.999% of people who try to shift a conventional helical-geare...

www.dcresource.com is good as well. Canon A-series is pretty good for a P&S with manual controls, as are the Panasonic LX and FX series. Most P&S cameras aside from Olympus and Fuji use SD memory now. Keep in mind high ISO performance is going to suck on any P&S camera; the Fuji F-series is the only...

Re: Corsair HX520 power supply at buy.com - $80 after MIR
I think the rule of buy.com is to make sure you're buying exactly what you want and the item isn't likely to be broken in shipping. yep, buy.com is pretty reliable, reseller ratings aside. Now dealing with customer service there is a nightmare... and shipping speeds aren't the greatest. In fact, th...

I was just playing around with the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator, Yeah... pretty much every PSU calculator out there on the 'net is useless. Thankfully some are less useless than others and hence are only 30-50% off base rather than 100% or more. I think 7 out of 10 1000W PSUs that are sold seper...

I wouldn't ship a system with such a heatsink installed if I could avoid it, but if it's got the usual through-hole bolted mounting, you'd *probably* be ok. If you're just throwing it in your car for a drive to a LAN party across down, make sure the heatsink is vertical and the MB is on the bottom (...

You'd probably need to fabricate your own mounting bracket... if you have the measurements you need it shouldn't be too hard. Intel should have all this published somewhere; I have the docs somewhere in the lab under the Thermal Design Guidelines... For something with a screw-on bracket like a Ninja...

t's a heatsink with one pair of faulty clips. I think that's pretty unlikely that it's completely faulty-- with a small set of pliers to push down on the clips, they can and will go in. It's just BARELY adequate for a heatsink of that size, which is probably the problem. We install these all the ti...

Remove the top plate covering the NB heatsink's fins, that'll help. Connect a low-profile fan to the area above the VRM's will help as well, since they're joined by heat pipes. IIRC there's one guide out there where they do that, plus the remove the whole setup and clean off/apply new thermal grease...
