New fan q: what is the largest but silent fan available?

Well my original ideal to undervolt some 172mm fans is out the door. Therefore I am in need of some new fan suggestions. Could someone please recommend me the largest available dc fan that undervolts well - any 360mm fans out there? As for the rig I'm planning on cooling, right now its just parts el...

Thanks for the insight! Well it seems that, that idea is out the door.
(As for overclocking till it glows - sounds about right  )

The voltage of the fan would be a non-issue for me. It would be much better if they would start at 12V, however, if they don't I can always put in a 48V transformer to power them so they start spinning.

Yes, I agree more blades more air at same rpm. However, wouldn't more blades = more air turbulence? The main uncertainty I have about them is how quiet the actual motor is. With the low rpm 120mm fans, the biggest noise source is the air flow itself; with these two fan choices I am unsure as to how ...

Delta 172mm fan choice

I've got a crazy question for you folks: which is the better fan choice Delta AHB1548GHG 48V 5200rpm 402.72 cfm 49.88 mmH20 68.5 dBa or Delta EHB1548EHG 48V 5200rpm 374.62 cfm 43.27 mmH20 68.5 dBa Its for a new higher end computer that I will be starting to build in the very near future. These would...

Gah, what pisses me of with these reviews of heatsinks is that they don't use a STANDARD fan for all their tests in a way like SPCR, Madshrimp does, etc. Its like saying the stock cooler is better if it came bundled with the 120mm Delta 220cfm fan mounted on a fan funnel. The stock fan on that sees ...

To do that, you need to use a synchronous rectifier circuitry which relies on mosfets rather than diodes. BTW, why would you be attempting to make your own PSU with little background knowledge? You should be very careful about working with main s power, not to mention you may be violating (local?) r...

My $0.002 regarding P180 being too big! I am finding that for my next computer which I am planning on building some 6+ months down the road (once AMD comes out with their M2 socket platform {want/need Pacifica tech}) the P180 is too small for my needs and ATX & eATX don't have enough expansion slots...

But the nice thing about the HR-01 is that its only 6cm thick vs 11.2cm for the Sonic Tower and 11cm for the Scythe Ninja

Hmm. I was looking forward to the HR01, but after looking at the mounting, it seems a lot of motherboards will cause the heatsink to be installed in a suboptimal position. I would have thought that it would be best if the tower was facing the rear exhaust fan, but a lot of mobos would mount the heat...

Mini IDE Flash Drive

Here is something interesting I came across - a small IDE flash drive by Transcend. I wonder how well it really performs. Imagine craming Windows on it and using it as a boot drive. That would be awsome!

Sound damping properties of different materials

Hello Folks, does anyone here know where I could find some data regarding the sound damping properties of different materials such as steel, acrylic, polycarbonate, aluminum, rubber, foam, etc which would have some form of frequency data say loss in db for a range of frequency for a given thickness ...

Did you try cleaning it with WD40?

Are you sure its worth sending the case back just for the rust? You should try to get the retailer to send you something for compensation or at least a gift certificate
