I'm also trying to decide; between Giga and Asus. Needed for an all purpose machine but leaning toward DAW, lite gaming. Read DCP issues that P35 Giga boards had may be resolved in P45. Regardless, still can't decide on model since no reviews of production Giga boards and not all models at e-tailers...

I too was disturbed to find out about the DCP issues with Gigabyte's P35 boards. I'm trying to put together a parts list for a new build and I am anxiosly waiting for some reviews (especially regarding this issue) on the new P45 boards. This build will be for my 15 year old son. It'll be a general u...

Do I need to load Sata drivers for external HD?

I bought a WD3200AAKS HD and an Antec MX-1 enclosure to use for back-ups of data. Will I need to load SATA drivers in order for XP Home to recognize and format the drive? I plan on connecting it via USB to an old Dell PC with only PATA drives, (mobo based on 850 chipset; NO sata drivers came with it).

I have been planning on getting one of these boards for a new build (my first actually), but because of this issue and the DPC spikes that have been reported I am completely perplexed. Although I have no experience building a PC, from what I have read (in general) on the web, I was confident that I ...

Congrats on the recognition and excellent practical application of silent computing.

I'm curious to know which audio interface was used the the 3.5" drive bay.

The rebate on the P182 at Microcenter expires at the end of the month. The bottom line is a P182 for $87. I know this is more case than I need for the build outlined above but, for the price and my desire for a decently quiet build, am I really going wrong here? This is not a tougher case to work w...

Actually, the enterprise version will cost $7.00 less (at ZZF) based on my Pricegrabber search, verses the retail version (AAKS) from Directron WD2500AAKS - $77.27 (incl. shipping) WD2500YS - $70.50 (incl. shipping) Since the WD2500YS would be less and have a longer warranty (5 yr vs. 3 yr), it look...

Advice needed. Which of these 2 HD would you choose?

Which drive would be the better choice to use in a MX-1 external enclosure that I just picked up : a WD2500AAKS with a 3 year warranty or a WD2500YS with a 5 year warranty. I've read a lot of threads, recommendations about different drives and am just left unsure. I'd really appreciate someone help ...

The MB is USB 1.1 but I have a USB 2.0 PCI card. Will that be good enough?

Can I use a eSata PCI card? Will that work with my MB, also?

Can I use external Sata HD via USB to a PATA only MB?

Can I use a Sata HD in an external enclosure with USB2 connection to an old motherboard that doesn't support SATA? I want to back-up my old PATA drives so that I can reformat & repartition now. I'm thinking about getting the Thermaltake Max4 eSata & USB enclosure . I need it to work with my old 4 ye...

I'm anxious to do my first build, and the P182 is the case I now want. (I was leaning toward the P180 up until now).

Any clues as to when it will be in production?
