Seriously, the Zalman NB47J is a good HS, as long as you have decent airflow through your system you should be allright.

It's easy to install too, and you won't have to buy a new mobo.

suspend the drive?

Have a look at the HDD Suspension... Show your pics! for ideas.

My advice: rotate the drive 90 degrees so it's on it's side, that way you can use elastic bands to suspend it. note: you can only have one drive this way in the drive bay

Also unless your PSU comes equipped with the two or three pin "female"connectors, you can't hook it up to the PSU unless you have electronic skills I think. As I see it the mobo is mounted similarly like in the inside of a case, with normal components inserted and a HS with a fan, I don't see how this would stress the mobo in another way as if it were inside a case
