that depends entirely on the motherboard itself, not the chipset
the only thing that would stop it would be poorly placed components - the mounting holes are identical to current LGA775

ive been running a phantom350 in an incredibly low airflow environment (often the PSU gets hot to the touch) in a high-powered gaming rig (4400+, 7800gtx, both reserator cooled) for 4 months. the last 2 weeks I have added a second 7800gtx for SLI, and still have experienced no problems with this PSU...

@El Doug: My current rig might not tax the S12-430. I think it would tax the 380 though. But say I replaced my video card with a GeForce 7800 GTX style card, then it would come pretty close to the 430W. Say I replaced it with a 7950 GX2 and I would be exceeding the 430W. I would rather futureproof ...

Not everyone sees silence as a priority... but that gentleman needs to reevaluate his manners :? But in reality, this is one guy posting on one forum. It is not an official document from Anandtech, and it most certainly is not a featured article in the forums. Sounds mostly like he's trying to convi...

I do like to have a reserve for worst-case scenarios, like upgrading to SLI down the road or the next gen vid card, so I'll probably get at least a 400W model. [ emphasis mine ] IMO, SLI is the biggest scam going in the PC world these days. You will almost always get better value for money (that me...

well fellas, i thought id give a follow up in effect, i just want to praise the phantom 350 even MORE! its the most amazing PSU in existence. I am now running 7800gtxSLI - survives all stress tests. It's simply incredible the kind of output this thing really has! Not to mention that having the secon...

If you can somehow overcome your hatred for ATI, their chipsets run cooler - which will allow you to put a passive heatsink on it. Anyways, if you are cool with an ATI chipset, really want integrated graphics with DVI, and need an extra space between lowest PCI slot and the 7900 cooler, then here's ...

Edit: Just see that El Doug has decided to go with one PSU now. So this post is less relevant (for now). :) FOR NOW is the key phrase. Ill soon find out how viable this is... give me a few days I'm having a dual PSU set up, and am recalling my reading on the subject a while back - there're a few ca...

interesting idea. perhaps I WILL try running the SLI off of the phantom alone, before bothering with a complicated dual-independant-power setup i guess i knew it was possible, i was just scared to put that much load on it. good deal! Ill be trying this out then the 112 IS from the wall, so it looks ...

yes, id be using both PSUs at once. no, they would not be connected. its a phantom 350, and i want it to ONLY power the GPUs and drives. I know that the picoPSU would be able to handle the cpu/mobo (and there are no peripheral cards less the single graphics currently in there). The question is, can ...

Very Ambitious Pico/Phantom Proposition
Running an X2 4400+ and 7800gtx on a phantom, Ive been very pleased the last 6 months. However Ive been itching to try SLI ever since the next gen cards have been released, and the prices have gone down. All cooling aside (ill handle that myself)... I have done the wattage calculations based on the ...

dealing with summer heat
i unfortunately got into silent computing in the winter. i was in 7th heaven running an X2 4400+ and a 7800gtx both on a reserator plus, with 2 5v L1A's and a phantom 350 on an A8N-premium (passive northbridge). with a NIDEC-driven Samsung SATA2 soft-mounted, i felt invincible with a litterally no-n...

Optical drive... driving me crazy
I thought i was done with this place. Reserator, 5v L1A's, 2.5'' HDD... but now my DVD drive is really killing me. ive given rivatuner a whirl to turn-down the drive speed, but im still frustrated. are those expensive drives on the silence-enthusiast retailers really worth the dough? am i out of luc...

i dont know really - its hard for me to isolate even with the panel off and my ear to the comp when switching from low to high power activities. however as it seems generalized, i can only assume mobo? the PSU is a phantom350 which i notice never made these sounds when i ran it outside the case, so ...

Ive heard that once you completely silence your system, the HDD will make the most noise. i on the other hand am finding that, for whatever reason, that clickety clackety indigestion-sounding electric activity noise is the loudest in my system. not to be picky, but i am almost ready to re-install my...

Proving both points- a German guy has had a PC (including the PSU) submerged in the cheapest canola oil he could find, for almost 2 years now. Still works perfectly. Speaking from my culinary background, canola is a highly unsaturated fat! That stuff goes rancid in the kitchen in 2 weeks if not pro...

As far as that psu calculator, well just to prove it wrong again: lets grab one of those nice opteron 165s, which apparantly draw 110w according to that psu calculator. Increase the vcore to 1.55V, and frequency to 2.7ghz for a nice overclock, and apparantly the cpu uses 235W! Congratulations - you...
