Re: SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E: MicroATX Evolved
The 180mm fan has plenty of cool intake airflow, even on low, or undervolted. And, that is without a 120mm fan installed in the rear. You want to get any heat out of the case as soon as possible. I suggest you simply mount the megahalems fan as pull, and send any heat towards the rear 120mm fan exit...

Re: SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E: MicroATX Evolved
But the side panels do transmit noise from the various fans.

Re: SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E: MicroATX Evolved
I think the surfaces of the case are thinner than they should be for quiet. I solved the problem with a sheet of Silverstone SST-SF01 noise absorption material. I only put it on the side panels, but there is no reason why it can't be applied everywhere. Be careful with measuring the material an cutt...

Re: SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E: MicroATX Evolved
My take is that it is the supplied 180mm fan that makes this a great case.
It offers plenty of cooling even when undervolted and on the low switch setting.
Regardless, I would try it out first.

Re: SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E: MicroATX Evolved
As an update, the 2600K is now a 3570K @4.3. It seems to actually run cooler. The 120gb Intel 510 SSD is now a 180gb SSD. Changed only because I needed more room. The GTX580 is now a GTX680. It runs cooler and quieter. There is no noise issue from this setup. At the side of the desk, about 1meter aw...

Re: SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E: MicroATX Evolved
For what it is worth, I just built a gaming pc using this case. It has a 2600K overclocked to 4.0 EVGA GTX580 superclock Intel 510 120gb SSD Seasonic 750w gold psu Intake to the top. Prolomatech megahalems cooler 160mm tall coolers are not a problem. Noctua 120mm cpu fan. It turns out to be very qui...

Re: Trying to strike a balance between power headroom and no
Thank you ces and birthday monkey; your discussion was most helpful. I have a similar problem. Using a V351, a GTX580, and i5-2600K@4.0 I have heat problems under load. I used a silenex compact cooler because the Noctua U9B would not fit under the raised grille pf my psu. I am trying to determine my...

Re: Silencing a multi-purpose computer
So far, I have identified no mini-ITX motherboards that are based on the P67 chipset. You should know that the 2500k or 2600k unlocked cpu's can only be overclocked on a P67 based motherboard. That said, the unlocked processors are still very strong, and would probably do well even on a H67 motherbo...

Two 92mm fans might actually give better cooling. The surface area of a 120mm circle is 11,304mm whereas the surface area of two 92mm circles is 13,288mm . If you use fans with equal rpm, the cooling effect should be better. With equal rpm, the sound should be the same. The trick is to find 92mm fan...

Scythe makes a 100mm fan that has both 100mm and 92mm mounting holes. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185024 in different speeds. One of these fits the solo nicely. I tried to mount two of them, but you have to relocate the mounting holes to get both fans to fit. In retrospe...

Best slot fan for 8800GTS/GTX?
The 8800GTS and 8800GTX are popular vga cards for any sort of gaming. Unfortunately, they also generate a lot of heat. Some/most of the heat is expelled out the back by a pretty good cooler, but the five open slots near the rear still leak hot air back into the case. Just putting a few fingers there...

Thank you for the reply. I am relieved to hear that this is normal. It brings up another question, however. Would a newer router such as the linksys wrt54g be a worthwhile replacement? For the occasional wireless use, I am happy with "b" speeds. For internet use, I want as fast as possible. I do not...

router problem with SPCR?
Several months ago, I could not access silentpcreview.com. The message was that I was not connected to the internet(i was), I had typed in the wrong web address(I didn't) or that the site was down(how could I know?) I tried my backup machine through the same router, with no success. I have been usin...

I recently built a system with E6600, evga 8800gts, solo case, etc. I used the supplied 120 rear fan on low, a ninja rev3 cooler with included fan and a seasonic energy 550w psu. In front, I mounted 2 scythe 100mm 1000rpm fans. In a deskside environment it is reasonably quiet, and the cpu stays cool...

My 2 cents. I am not a fan of RAID. Hard drives are very reliable these days. What RAID does is speed up the recovery process from a hardware failure. There are other types of failure that still need to be addressed. What would happen if you came home to a fire or other disaster that destroyed your ...

My 2 cents. I too am planning an upgrade to an E6600 and a 3800GTS. For what it is worth, I had a P180 case before, and I found it to be a pain, and not any quieter than the P150 with similar components. In the next build, I will use an Antec Solo case. (like the P150 w/o a power supply). I expect t...

I had some problems with an intel 670 and a7800gt. I changed to an arctic silencer rev5? vga cooler, and I got relatively cool and quiet on both the cpu and the vga. Why?? The arctic silencer which is a two slot solution expels the heated vga air out of the case, instead of recirculating it throough...

For what it's worth, I have an antec p150 sitting next to my desk at desk height and about 3 feet from my ear. It is quiet enough for me. My two hard drives are spinning, and I can't hear them, and when they are working, I can't really hear them either. The design of the P150 is such that the noise ...

I have been running an intel 670 3.8 in the antec p150 case. Temps are reasonable now. The key for me was changing out the stock evga 7800gt cooler for an arctic cooler rev 3. (With EVGA this won't void the warranty.) The vga temps came down, of course, but since the vga heat was exhausted immediate...
