The Grandia's chassis is steel; only the front panel is aluminium. There are plenty of silent 80mm fans. I can recommend the Arctic Cooling fans, which are quite inexpensive too.

Thanks for clearing that up, SST Guy. So the Grandia's internal structure is similar to that of the LC17, except for the different hard drive bays. (I'm just drawing comparisons to the LC17 because I've seen it in person.)

There's a general anti-thermaltake attitude on these forums. I've never had one, so I can't speak for their quality or lack thereof. The Seasonic M12-500 is a good choice if you want both detachable cables and silence.

Ryboto: I'm in the same boat as you w/r/t the zalman being the loudest fan in the system. I should really fanmate it to 5v instead of letting q-fan give it PWM. Sorry not having a report now, I haven't even ordered the fan yet. Been so busy with school :/

The rear fan is ducted to the CPU now, that's stock Dell. I think I'll make it even more positive by flipping the PSU-fan, I need to figure out how to keep wires away from it though. Setup going down atm to take pix.

Yup, internal pics would really help the Dell users. I'll take tehm next time I have my rig down, in a few days. I might tape over some of the remaining vents.

Emachines psu are not proprietary, I replaced one at my school with a normal 350w. Recent Dell psus aren't either, I'm running my cellie 1.7 box off a 250w Dell psu. I can recommend the Hipro HP-E4009F5WR. *newegg link*

Newegg doesn't stock the YL, and I'd very much prefer to get the fan from Newegg, because I'm also buying a wireless router there. And I intend to have it as ‘set-and-forget’ on a fanmate, because of my laziness. That rules out the Ever Green for me. And I confess to being slightly anti-Yate-Loo...

Arctic Cooling AF12025 Evercool Ever Green EC-EGF-12 NMB Minebea 4710KL-04W-B19-VB2 I'm not leaning toward any specific one. It's fo...
