Mac Pro
I hope you guys here at Spcr get around to reviewing this crazy thing. Finally looks like someone built architecture around cooling performance and not visa versa. Certainly seems interesting. Is this thinking outside the ATX box? No heatpipes, one fan (140mm?), but retains power. http://www.anandte...

Re: Can Rear case fan interfere with CPU fan?
On second thought I'll find a way to go with the standard push-pull setup mentioned, and bypass these questions. Much easier and if the fans can run @ 7v I should be happy.

Re: Can Rear case fan interfere with CPU fan?
Thanks, the ram is standard Corsair. Actually i'm not worried about CPU temps right now as the cooler seems effective (45c max w/ prime 95). I would really, really like to take out the rear case fan though; especially if it contributes nothing (or hinders? cooling). Just a bit worried about the VRM'...

Re: Can Rear case fan interfere with CPU fan?
the CPU fan is mounted sucking air through the fins towards the back? Thanks for he reply. The CPU fan pulls air through the cooler. The ram interferes with the fan when it's mounted on the other side. You'd get more advantage mounting it on the other side Is it true airflow is also better on the f...

Can Rear case fan interfere with CPU fan?
Did a quick search but anyway, If my audible rear case fan is under-volted, producing less CFM than the the CPU fan. 1) Does the rear case fan hinder CPU fan flow. 2) Would the CPU fan alone provide better exhaust out the back (over the VRM's). Is it better to remove the (only) case fan? Note: The C...

Re: New Mac Pro - ~10"H x ~7" diameter black cylinder
Does it require special graphics card ect. to interface with the vertical heat sink. If so, probably no off-the-shelf upgrades. You can use thunderbolt ports for "external" expandability though. Though dual gfx cards are enough for me, you can add more with modular graphics card cases like this. I t...

Re: New Mac Pro - ~10"H x ~7" diameter black cylinder
The single top fan is a neat idea but is it practical for such a high end setup considering there are no dedicated heat sinks/fans...Any heat pipes in that center cavity? Where is the PSU anyway? Did Intel design the form factor? What kind of limb is Apple going out on this time? Will all desktops l...

BTX was an Intel-promoted standard that never caught on due to several factors. The main factor was the high cost to MB manufacturers to redesign the well-understood ATX standard. The direct as well as hidden costs were too much, especially since the primary driver for the re-design was the ill-fat...

BTX or ATX?
Its time to build a new PC but what happened to BTX? I hear Intel dropped it and see little mention of it even here. What happened to the cooling/noise improvements? Any direct ATX/BTX comparisons? i'd still consider it. p.s. i'm hearing BTX isn't as relevant since PC cooling and noise has become a ...

i have the same problem controlling the zalman 9500 (3-pin cpu fan) on my 4-pin abit board. right now it runs @ 100%. the options arent that great that i can see: 1) worst: attach the 3-pin zalman to one of the 3-pin fan headers which unfortunately, only adjust down to 8v (9500 is still very loud). ...

well i though i would try to conclude this with a comparison of the same system in a P150. the theories that went into the wall case are put to the test 1) dedicated airflow and 2) as linus said "passive assist". its not always a fair compaison for reasons explained below but anyway.. wall case idle...
