Thanks for pointing this out. I upgraded my BIOS from 0601 to 0702 and the CPU and NB? (Temp3 in Speedfan) temps also dropped 8C!! Now my Opteron 144 is idling (0.8v 1.0Ghz) at a more reasonable 41C and under Prime95 (1.0v 1.8Ghz) 45C using an old Thermaltake SilentPipe heatsink and a 92mm fan insi...

Both coolers will fit but you will have to remove your motherboard to install backplates and/or retention brackets.

Alternatively you can pick up the CPU HSF w/ heatpipes that comes with some of the Opterons and the Dual Core chips. Then you can use the existing mounting bracket.

I'm using 2 grommets from the Sunbeam PCI bracket: http://www.atruereview.com/pci_rack/3big.jpg I used 2 for the Yate Loon fan assembly, and the other 2 for the HD. I mounted these on the middle holes for the HD. I also used 2 extra screws from an Antec Aria: http://images.devshed.com/dh/stories/Ant...
