The fan on this unit is a standard fan, would guess 60 or 80mm, and the connector is 4 pins, don't know if it's a standard 4 pin connector or not.

EDIT.

On the other hand if you opt for the add-on gfx card, you will get a second fan wich is of the blower type, allso using a 4 pin connector.

Hi,

You can use a zalman vf900 and som artic silver thermal glue, I have used it in a hiper slim media case on an amd x2 3800+ 65w TDP cpu with great success. Howvere due to the fact that you glue it on it will be a permanent installation

All parts are bought and paid for so it's to late to change those things, but thanx for the suggestions . And yes it's space constraints that makes me bother, I can only fit a cooler no higher than 40mm, and in that category the vf900 seemed like a reasonable candidate compared to 1U rack coolers.

Thnx for the answer,

I will glue it onto the CPU, using thermal glue. I just wanted another input on the thermal aspect before making things permanent :)

Help selecting heatsink

Due to space constraints in the new chassi I have can not longer use mye noctua nh-u12 . So now I'm looking for a new heatsink, It' needs to cool a pentium d945 (TDP 90w) and I have about 14cm from top of CPU core to chassi wall, any suggestions ? Preferably with space for 92 or 120mm fan.

So I got the qpack case, cut out the crossbar under the rear 120mm fan, installed a noctua nh-u12 with a 120mm fan on, only problem is that it will only fit so that the fan blows across the case and not front to back, any thoughts on how this will effect cooling ? Would it be wise to cut an intake h...

So I sold the silverstone case, it was to big for my needs anyhow, So I'm thinking about getting the Aspire X Qpaq case, If I cut the crossbas under the 120mm fan there seems to be lots og space for large tower style heatsinks, any thoughts/experience with that ?

The motherboard is an matx from an HP DC7600, it built by foxconn, but HP branded. I'm not looking for totally silent , I just don't want it sound to much, meaning that it shouldn't be heard over the news broadcast on normal volume.

An xp-120 wouldn't fit either, It hits both the south bridge heasink and the PSU. But if an xp-120 would do, wouldn' the xp-90c allso do, the reviews I have read of these two coolers shows very little performance difference.

Quieting a shuttle xpc G series

Hi, long time reader of this forum, but this will be my first post here. I have a shuttle xpc G series that makes to much noise, and I need some advice on making it quiet, not totally silent just quiet enough to have it running in the living room. In the unit there is a amd 1700+@2300mhz radeon 9800...
