I've just run Prime95 (two instances) for an hour, and the CPU stabilized at 63 C (though it hit 64 C once that I saw, for about ten seconds). The motherboard (an Asus P5WD2 Premium, if that matters) reached 43 C. The very instant I turned off Prime95, the CPU dropped to 56 C; in the time it has tak...

Yes, sorry, I guess I didn't specify. I had a Zalman 9500, but switched to the Ninja based on advice and information found here. Would I be better served if I switched back? I don't relish the thought of tearing the computer apart yet again, and trying to get that adhesive backplate off, but I'll do...

I've switched fans and am now using two instances of Prime95 to test my system, on the maximum heat setting. When I did this briefly last night, it shot up to 62 C in about two minutes. Today, with the new fan, it's much better, but the temperature is still creeping upward. It has hit 60 C after abo...

I'm already using Arctic Silver 5. I must say, I'm a bit concerned about the size and weight of the Ninja. It dips downward noticeably toward the far end; is this putting too great a strain on the motherboard, or is it designed to handle it? The faster fan, does it only need to go on the heatsink, o...

Yes, there's a huge fan on the bottom of the power supply, but in the Antec P180 the power supply and hard drives are in a separate section at the bottom of the case, so the fan on the power supply won't blow over the CPU cooler. I have 120 mm fans rear and top, and I'll be adding a front intake fan...

Ninja Plus vs Zalman 9500
Thanks to the advice I've received here, I've been working on my computers, and they're already much quieter than before. I've returned my CoolerMaster Praetorian cases (they had a strange defect in which the anodized aluminum finish turned to powder when touched, and it was pure serendipity that I ...

For what it's worth, I've purchased nothing but Nvidia cards for ten years or so... and I'm currently in the process of returning my 7900GT in exchange for an ATI X1900GT. My XFX 7900GT exhibits all the strange artifacts and problems the reviews mentioning inferior RAM and shoddy drivers would lead ...

Would the same be true of the X1900GT with this cooler? The logical answer would be 'yes,' of course, but I've learned that logic and video cards don't always go together.
