i just bought one to replace my dead liberty... i'm actually quite disappointed... i've never had the benefit of a SLM, so i didn't know what 21dB actually sounds like. until now...
the 380 isn't loud or anything... but it is definitely louder than my old fan-swapped liberty...

Hehe. RMA is exactly the reason why I left my S12II-430 unswapped. Certainly not (as) silent as I would've expected, but you get used to it. Impossible for me to notice it now, so S12II's should definitely be quiet enough. By the way, where does the swapped fan draw power from and how does it compa...

well... it looks like i'm SOL since i've voided my warranty by doing a fan swap (SPCR made me do it!!!) from enermax tech support You should send the unit back to us for service. There's no quick fix for the no PWR_OK signal. http://www.enermaxusa.com/rma.php hopefully my new PSU (seasonic S12II-380...

i'm pretty sure its intentional... the people who watched that movie as kids (like me) are now grown up engineers and eggheads of varying types (not like me).... i think its paying homage to the skynet in terminator. i think its pretty cool, and the makers are having a larf... at the older upper man...

Tried googling "atx power supply pwr_ok" yet? The findings suggest that it's a single wire outputting the signal, and that it's the PSU's self-diagnostic line that only has the 'OK' signal if "the +12 VDC, +5VDC, and +3.3VDC outputs are above the undervoltage thresholds." Not sure how the signal ge...

I would still suggest getting a PSU tester (get your parents to pay for that at least), if you ever need to test a PSU thats the way to do it, as it also tests the elusive -12v and -5v lines as well, which are often way off when tested on a volt meter alone. Andy i got the PSU tester and tested my ...

Bizarre indeed, would you have much of a use for a PSU tester in the future.? It could be the internal fuse in the PSU itself, lots of PSU's have them but not all of them. They are usually glass and 2-4mm wide and ~12mm long it could be that if your PSU is totally dead, and not just partially dead....

Well, your parents' PSU was the fit specimen. Survived whatever electrical fault it is their PC's mobo has, but your PSU didn't. That's how it sounds like anyway. Think you'll need a new PSU, they a new mobo and perhaps a separate VGA. Never trusted the integrated chips, never will. andyb says such...

it just keeps getting crazier and crazier... so now, it turns out that my parents' PSU is ABLE to run MY computer, but my original PSU is not... so i really don't get it anymore... my PSU somehow got damaged by plugging into my parents' motherboard, but my parents' PSU is still fine... so in summary...

I saw an emachine with a dead PSU, capacitor popped right off the circuit board, and the rest of them were bulging (failure not that far off). We replaced it with one of my spares and its fine. HELP! weird hardware problems!
my parents' computer froze last night so i've been trying to fix it this afternoon... they said that it froze, and when they turned it off, it wouldn't turn on again... i was pretty sure it wasn't a PSU problem, since if the PSU died, you probably wouldn't have a frozen image on the screen.. the com...

the only mod i've really made to the case is to cut the fan grilles off... i've never actually measured the expected increase in airflow/cooling from this mod, but intuition and anecdotal evidence suggests that it works, :P i've replaced the front door with the newer 3-ply (aluminum-plastic-aluminum...

Most distortion measurements are static measurements, while music can have a great many dynamic distortions. You can double or triple the capacity of an amp's power supply and gain tremendous sound improvements while the highly accurate Fluke meter registers zero change. It happens all the time. ye...

i think the point here is not that expensive cable (or other audiophile gadgetry) doesn't make a difference, but that often times there is no measureable difference. so obviously, an unshielded cable that is experiencing noise CAN be differentiated from a good cable both sonically, and electrically....
