Could you put the fan on one of the heat sinks with a tighter fin spacing? You've mentioned it in both reviews now, I'd like to see if it really helps with pushing air through the tighter spaces, or if it's just a case of "creative marketing."
Good review though

I AM good to go. :D Typing this from my brand-spanking new rig, and boy is it nice. Nary a sound, except for the fans which I haven't changed yet. I can't hardly hear my hdd, in my old one it sounded like a man with a jackhammer right next to my ear. And the XP install went off without a hitch. Now,...

SATA drives shown as removable?
I just built my new rig and it is SWEET.
But for some reason my hdd and dvd-writer (both SATA) show up in the safely remove hardware thingy in the system tray. Since I'm not going to remove them, is there any way I can get them to disappear from that list?
Thanks in advance.

Well, I made some tests yesterday night, *without* panel. CPU temps during DiVX play never went above 55°C, with room temperature @ 24°C constantly. I'll repeat tests with and without inside panel this weekend, taking pictures and screenshots. What buzzes me is the hd noise, now... gotta find a w...

... for parts to arrive. That's right folks, my new rig is arriving today, hopefully in about an hour. I'm checking the Track&Trace page of my system every 30 seconds to see if something new should have happened. I'm as excited as a kid at X-mas. To quote Eminem: "Palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms ...

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down now. I'll buy the Scythe S-flex "E" version. 1 for the rear of the case, 1 for the heatsink, and 1 for the lower compartment between the hdd and the psu. I'll put fanmates on all of them. Now, I've gotten the Evga 8800 GTS, and it has a radial blower that blows air ...

I would, but the reviews posted on SPCR date back to 2003. That's a little old for my taste.s_xero wrote:I've got some fans on the little Zalman's Fanmates. I don't really like the PWM-fan-controllers, they've got problems and stuff.
But if you read some of the reviews, I think it can take you far.

Cooling my new P180.
I just ordered my new rig. (Details here.) Now, I'm wondering what the best way of cooling it is. I.e, how many fans, and how to control them. I'm leaning towards the Scythe S-flex E-model, but what's the best way to control the fan speed. I'd like a set-and-forget solution. I've used Noisemagic's N...

Installing XP on a SATA drive?
Ok, I've just ordered my new rig, and now I'm having trouble figuring out if I forgot to order a floppy drive. I have a WinXP Pro disk, but it doesn't include SP2. Can I install it on my new WD3200KS without a floppy drive, or do I need to bootstrap the drivers onto a new cd along with SP2? Thanks i...

And now, just to contradict myself completely I found this.
Have a look at the pictures and see if your drive looks like this.

That sounds very strange, the IDE standard has been around so long that Moses backed up the 10 commandments on his IDE drive (slight exaggeration there.) I'm not aware of any differences in the size of the cable from 2.5 to 3.5 inch drives. Are you sure you didn't try to plug the floppy cable into t...

You should look into Samsung hard disks, specifically the 321KJ. I'm very impressed with mine. Also make sure to listen closely to your PSU as there are reports of coil whine with the Corsair PSU's. I'm getting the WD's just as a beginning HDD until the 160GB/platter comes out in force. I haven't b...

It is the following: Antec P180B (after correspondence with David Forster from Antec who told me they won't be releasing the P182 in the next several weeks. He also told me MikeC would likely be one of the very first to see and review the P182 :D Sorry Mike, did a bit of namedropping, but hey, good ...

And if you can wait a little while, I'd check out the new video cards coming out in february (Nvidia) and march (ATI). Since the launch date for Vista is looming and with that the introduction of DX10. The only cards right now that are DX10 compatible are Nvidia's Geforce 8800 series, but they are r...

Has anybody tried this drive? I'm trying to avoid IDE connections in my new build, and this is one of only a few drives I've found in Denmark. There's also the NEC 7170S, I found at one reseller, but can't find linkage to it anywhere. (In a language other than Danish, and even babelfish won't transl...

Am I the only one seeing a holding page when I go to http://www.antec.com?
It says it expired 1/9/07.
Very weird. Did someone forget to pay the bill

Just to up the ante on the P5B, ASUS just released a new BIOS, and the guys at Anandtech are loving it.
Seems like this is the one I'll get.
