I recieved this mail from one of the Noctua technical directors, that I got to know some. I just retiered my old, trusty Antec True Blue 485 W for the Corsair HX 520W. And I must say I'm impressed! The True Blue was silent. But the HX is silent - silent lol. My Noctua fans on 850 rpm are louder. And with the Antec, I had 11.88V on the + 12V rail with a Gainward Golden Sample 7950GT. But ...

The XFX 7950GT?
Hi all! I'm helping a friend to upgrade his videocard. He is very interested in a XFX 7950GT passive. Just a couple of questions. 1. In a P180 case with 3 fans ( 2 exhaust ) and one on a Noctua heatsink). The Noctua fans at 900RPM. 2. What would the case temps be like with this card, in such a case?...

Hi! I did that before with good results. Both removing the top fan and sealing the top hole that is. So try it. It works very well! When I had that config. I just had the rear exhaust fan ducted to the Ninja cpu cooler. No other case fan. The reason why I have the top fan back on again, is that I ha...

Diffent speeds on exhaust fans in the same case?
I'm just wondering if it's a bad move to have different speeds on the rear and top exhaust fans in a P180 case? Let's say, you have 2 fans of the same stock speed performance. And now, you are intending to run the top exhaust at 650rpm and the rear fan at 850rpm. Would the fan at 850rpm, render the ...

I was swaying toward the P5N32-E board as I've used Asus nVidia boards in the past and they've always been pretty rock solid. I appreciate something like the P5W64 has the edge and it was really just a case of drawing a line somewhere in terms of cost, but heck - I started off spec'ing an 8800GTS 3...

I have an 8800GTX (Gainward) in a P180B with a freaking Raptor and Barracuda in it. The 8800 is *by far* the noisiest thing in the case. Maybe the GTS is quieter ;( If you think your card is too noisy? Then maybe a Thermalright HR 03 Plus (8800GTX compatible only. But there will be a separate heats...

Hi again! Well, I got the Leadtek 8800GTS today. And I must say, I'm quite impressed! First, it cuts through any game at very high settings smoothly. So Far, I have tested BF2, Far Cry, Titan Quest and F.E.A.R. and Medieval Total War II. Also the noise is surpricingly low, compaired to the other GF ...

Hi, I really don't like the idea of all the heat from inside the case having to go through the PSU. With ~200w of heat having to go that way the PSU fan will have to run really fast. Mmm, that's a good point. The Nexus case doesn't have any other way of shifting air to the outside, also as its very...

You wont need any fan in the cd bay area. Just get some foam strips and tape them to the cd bay opening, using double sided tape. Then just wedge a 120mm fan filter in there. It works very well in my P180B. And seal all holes inside the cd cage to prevent air leakage. Also, tuck some foam in the sma...

Re: Seeking a Fanless / Hybrid PSU
So far my only real noise source of system is now my PSU. So, I will now seek passive semi-passive PSU. I got decent air flow in my case and specs are on my siganture. From here I can get these PSU's from one retailer: Antec Phantom 500W is 149,90 € SilverStone ST30NF Nightjar 300W is 139,90 € ...

How many free 5.25 cd drive bays do you have? If you have 3 X 5.25 bays free? Then get some foam strips and a washable 120mm fan filter. Then, tape those foam strips to the opening, using double sided tape. Then, just wedge the filter in between the foam. I have such a passive intake in my Antec P18...

Hi again! I'm sure that will make a very nice rig. And the GTS is a great card too. I have just gone from a X1800GTO to a 8800GTS 320mb. And the difference is big! And I dont think he would have seen more than just a smaller differece, if he had compaired the 8800GTX with the GTS. I bet, he wont mis...

Re: System advice - 2200$
I am asked by my friend to build a pc for him, and he has about 2200$ to spend on it. There is no need to monitor nor keyboard/mouse or dvddrive. He wants a geforce 8800gtx, 2gb of ram and a raptor 150gb disc. So what do you guys recommend? obviously he is a gamer but he do care about noise, althou...

Geforce 8800GTS cooling
Hi guys! I'm on my way buying a 8800GTS. Now I'm wondering, how are the stock coolers on the 8800GTS card, in terms of noise? And how hot does this kind of cards run? Can I count on much increasing case temps? I have a P180 with a passive intake in the 5.25 cd bays (120mm fan filter) An AMD64 Clawha...

Hi! Most of that stuff seems good. But consider getting a Samsung hd instead if you want a quiet hd. Western D. hdds are good. But not the most quiet hd in the bunch. The Zalman psu I have my doubs about. Check these out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817151023 http://www.newe...
