The P183 is just so ugly, especially with the door open... With door open it's not anymore just plain ugly but fugly. Antec must have hired designers from Thermalsh*t considering direction they're taking look of their cases. WD Caviar Black drive which I hear are noisy buggers. Nothing out of ordin...

I think the 4870X2 is likely to be the most significant source of noise that you will have to deal with. It's surely biggest heat source. It produces 70W of heat for doing nothing (~ same as that Nehalem CPU under full load) and 260+ W under load. If that heat isn't kicked out from case directly it...

What about cases like the new B10 that feature 2mm acoustic foam on the side panels? Not enough, sure, but it's something. That 2mm is thickness of side panel, that lining Akasa Paxmate is mighty little over one millimeter thicker than that. Also new Lian Li's HDD tray system doesn't look good, met...

PC-70 is clearly old outdated design with small fans and lot of horribly restrictive fan vents in need of serious cutting. Compared to those hard HDD mounting to cage is almost minor problem. (and not much depth for long graphics card) V2x10 is lot more modern design and V2110 has also acoustically ...

you could add mass and dampen down the alu side panels and also block some of the HDD noise using Acoustipack. I think it's fair to say that something like Acoustipack should be the icing on the silence cake in most situations... Exactly, mass damping would need to be awfully heavy if for example H...

Is the harddrive mounting in it a good solution? For one thing HDDs are spaced very tightly with plastic trays blocking airflow further. (and use of lowest 5.25" bay would block any remaining HDD cooling airflow) Also as all these now so fashionable plastic trays/caddies seem to always wrap tightly...

Re: Quiet Lian Li Case
Any thoughts on these models or should I just stick to the good old Antec P182. If that's your starting point and what you want is more space then A71 is Lian Li you want to look. I've myself had it for some time. Should have done it earlier but I try to get something written about that project int...

And 2mm thick side panels I think that's been around for some time in V-serie cases. Indeed. http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/B10/pc-b10-27.jpg I wonder how good would this case be for a quiet PC? Maybe those thick side panels and noise absorption foam (albeit not very thick) could hel...

2) The bottom fan grill under the psu can't be removed with ease. I plan on sitting the case on a carpeted ground. Is it ok to do so? Aerocool FP-01 mini review
I got this one along Zalman ZM-MFC2 for Lian Li A71 built project. I was expecting it to be "digital controller" not compatible with all fans like Aerocool's older Coolpanel II which can't lower speed of some fans much any and makes them keep high frequency "electric" whining or ticking noise. (that...

Re: New Nexus FLC-3000 CPU cooler - 775 and 1366 compatible
92mm fan... which probably leaks big part of airflow elsewhere than toward heatsink... Now why I'm not expecting any serious performance? Seems a slightly eccentric design, but is the first cooler I've seen for Intel Core i7 CPUs. Thermalright will release LGA1366 mounting kit when Nehalem is releas...

For spacious high performance PC case design has some very nice silencing potential but "stock condition" leaves most of it unrealized. Clearly biggest flaw from silencing aspect...

Not much spacious silencing friendly cases around when many makers concentrate to making colourful trash and rest to "thousand and one holes/remove anything more and you'll have plain open frame" cases.
