What made you exclude the minja out of your plans ?
I have still not made a decision yet, and was interested in someone else's arguments.

I am very curious if such a thing exists, as I have been (and still am) looking for one also.
AFAIK, the minja is the way to go for this type of case (CM28x or others with <120mm fans), otherwise, the case will have to sit vertically (Antec Solo or similar).

It took me a while, but I finally did it, my fangrillectomy. Tin snips were definitely the way to go, cutting was a <5 minutes job for the top and rear. Blunting the sharp edges was a different thing altogether. I tried a dremel with a bit that appeared to serve this purpose, but besides a lot of sp...

Removing fan grills on Antec 182

Maybe a dumb question but I never worked with metal before, what tools would be the best for cutting out the fan grills on an Antec 182? Hack saw ? Other type of metal saw ? Reciprocating ? Then, what did you use for dulling the freshly cut edges ? Metal file ? Any other general thoughts on what sho...

I installed a Scythe Quiet Drive in my P182 to silence a noisy 320Gb Seagate. The results were more than satisfying, I simply can not hear my drive anymore, all the vibrations are gone, the unnerving humming is history. And, as a bonus gift, the disk is now cooler than before! I can only say that I ...

Thanks for all the replies. A few things that I forgot to mention: - PS is a corsair 620W; it might not even have a fan, for what I can tell, I never heard it; no wonder the fan never starts, as my power usage at the wall is 85W idle and 135 watts peak. Why do I need a 620W PS, you tell me. - the Q6...

I, like many other people on these boards, am using a ninja on my q6600 sitting on a P35-DS3R. Pushpins are fine, I really do not understand why people make such a fuss out of it. My CPU idles at 32C and tops at 44C when stressed (prime 95). The whole assembly feels solid, I moved my P182 a couple o...

Yeah, I guess that lower chamber needs some tidying up.
I have three disks crammed in there and teh power cables are not easy to deal with.
Did anyone think of making their own, custom length, internal sata power cables ? I doubt it shold be that difficult with the proper connectors.

Finally everything is put together, up, and running. This is how it looks on the inside, the P182 really does help your cables routing. I kept the tri-cool fans for now, as they are silent enough for my taste. Specs: Antec P182, Corsair HX620, Gigabyte P35DS3R, Intel Q6600, Scythe Ninja, Corsair DDR...

Good intuition copyright. I forgot to mention in my initial post that I already tried that yesterday night, and did not fix anything. Quiet power supply with more than 4 sata connectors

Can anyone recommend a power supply with more than 4 sata connectors ? I intend to run 3 HDs and 2 DVDs, all sata. The only one I could find was the Corsair HX620, all the others stop at 4 connectors. Budget is an issue, the lower the price, the better. Watts wise, 500 or 600w should be Ok, I calcul...

Re: Video card advice request

Thats bollocks, just quietly. A 24 inch model will happily run off VGA in native res. Intriguing statement Mikey, I can't seem to remember where this idea of "1920x1200==dvi cable" came from, but if what you say is true, that means I could run my two displays of a 6200 and I do not need dual DVI. Chipset advice for Q6600: 965 or P35 ?

I am building a photoshop machine. No gaming, no sli, crossfire or anything similar.
It will sit in a P182 and a Q6600 will do the crunching.
Some slight overclocking is possible, again, nothing extreme.
Is the P35 better than the 965 ?

Thanks in advance,
BN

Video card advice request

I am absolutely not into gaming, but I am looking to display on two 24'' monitors, each in 1920x1200. AFAIK, I need two DVI outputs for this, the VGA only goes to 1600x1200. The machine I'm building will never run vista, only XP (photoshop) and Linux. Which would be the best card around for my needs...
