Of course with the large price difference you can buy 3x's as many Yate Loons and use the best ones from the lot and still save money over the Nexus fans.

No, the little "novelty" heatsinks are generally useless. Designed to separate fools from their money. Yes, some of those things get warm. And? Chips like NB's and Winbond sensor chips are perfectly fine running at temps up in the 70-100° range. (You can look up the operating spec's for them onlin...

Have you taken a look at the SPCR rankings for those coolers? http://www.silentpcreview.com/article30-page1.html In my experience the Ninja is more than enough to cool a C2D processor. Even overclocked to 3.3GHz and bumping voltage to 1.4V my E6600 stays at reasonable levels. Since you're buying an ...

blocking off vents is usually done to control the air flow. For example, I have no fan in the lower PSU/HDD compartment other than the PSU fan. I want all the air to come in from the front so it'll cool my HD so I taped up the vents by the PSU so the air won't come in from there instead. On the othe...

I think the main differnece between your setup and others is the fact you're using 3 of your 5.25" bays. Many people including myself use that as the primary intake for the CPU. Before you buy the Yate Loon fan, you might want to test things out with one of the Tricools that came with your case just...

it's important to note that unless the case you have now is really bad, upgrading to a better case will only offer minimal improvements. What matters most is all the other parts of your computer. If your current case uses fans smaller than 120mm, then you'll likely see an improvement if you use the ...

The Seagate Barracuda drives are another holdover on reliability for me. I can't speak for Maverick, but although those temps are acceptable, they are high for a C2D + Ninja at stock speed and voltage. For a frame of reference, my CPU is overclocked at 3.3GHz and 1.4V but only runs a few degrees hotter (62C with a higher room ambient temp). Maverick - did you check to se...

Ah, now we're on to something. With the top 3 5.25" slots filled, there isn't much room for air to enter. Generally it's easier to use that top area as the intake for the CPU because the air just goes straight across. See if you can feel any air flow going into the main intake for that uppser sectio...

As the others stated, why not just get a C2D? More bang for your buck. If you were trying to get best efficiency whlie idling then AMD is a better choice, but it looks like you're going for high end performance. If you are going AMD for better SLI support I'd say forget about SLI. PITA to get workin...

Looks like the Chenbro case has better potential for being quiet. The single 120mm exhaust along with the air the PSU is venting out should be sufficient to cool your system (even if you go crazy overclocking - assuming of course the internal airflow design is good). I'd only bother with the front i...

You're asking the wrong question ;-)

I'd be more concerned if the MB will even recognize the CPU.

You'll need to figure out what MB you have and what BIOS version it's running. Then you'll need to find out if that MB/BIOS supports the CPU in question.
