Re: Maybe it is aimed at the BTX case folks...

It seems that a BTX form factor would be about the only configuration in which you'd want to use this card. The heatpipe would be upside-down otherwise (e.g. the condensing would occur below the GPU block and the condensate would never hit the GPU block). If they have something that will promote ca...

Wow, that is one huge heatsink.

The thermalright HR-03 is tiny in comparison. I guess it'd have to be that huge seeing as how the HR-03 can't even come close to cooling the X1950XTX under load.

Re: Planned C2D, little help please?

I'm not sure about the mobo, there doesn't seem to be much info on it, but to my eyes it looks ok. I don't plan to overclock much, so if anything I would like it to be automatic within the mobo. I don't know if its worth buying a quadcore ready mobo (I don't even know how to differentiate between q...

The high pitch whine from the Seagate 7200.10 drives me crazy. I seriously doubt it's above the frequency that only younger people can hear it because I (29 yrs old) can hear it loud and clear with the P180B door closed from 10+ feet away. That's assuming minimal ambient noise. I'm still trying to ...

Yeah, but not really worth considering unless you're willing to buy it soldered on a motherboard (assuming you can even find a vendor to buy it from).

If i remember correctly its not possible to fold on a GPU and CPU at the same time with one machine. A 1900 should be a hell of a lot faster than any normal CPU though. I've run F@H on both cores of my E6600 and my X1950XTX at the same time. One caveat - you need to limit the usage of one of the no...

P5B-VM really seems to be the weak link here - I didn't know that as other P5Bs overclock like hell. That's because they use different chipsets, they have almost nothing in common when it comes to overclocking. I agree, it's probably the builtin graphics on the chipset that is limiting the overcloc...

You might want to consider a SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus PSU. Based on testing those PSU only have 1 12V rail so it's easier to deal with load balancing. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article656-page1.html The M12 700W was verified as only having 1 rail: http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=1...

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Soundcard Waste of money in my opinion. The only advantage it gives over the cheaper X-fi cards is the X-RAM. Yes, LostCircuits already did some tests on Core2 check their site. E6300 takes as much idle power as E6700 so currently no reason to buy smaller-cache units, at least from power standpoint. Idle is a poor way to compare these CPUs. IIRC speedstep reduces all C2D power consumption by setting the mu...

Even heavily overclocked you probably won't come close to reaching 300W for that system. Even if you managed to get the CPU running at double the stock clock speeds at only 1.5V vCore, the CPU would only draw about 160W. As already pointed out, the E6600 makes more sense if you're overclocking. They...

Unfortunately, adjusting the system clock means you're underclocking everything in the system - not just the CPU. Of course the system might still be more than fast enough for you needs so you might as well give it a shot. As far as the PSUs, Scythe doesn't seem to publish their efficiency ratings f...
