Re: Akasa Euler Fanless case
As for those holes: they are too small! you will need to drill them out a tiny bit (a fraction of a millimetre) in order to fit a pair of RP-SMA pigtails as they're called. Of course this will void your warranty (although, what kind of warranty can possibly be useful for a case without PSU?). Since...

Re: Akasa Euler Fanless case
It seemed that screw I could turn down further than any of the others by a substantial margin and doing this would cause the motherboard to show a substantial amount of flexing. I backed off the screw and tightened the others a little bit more, so that they were all equal. Pressing down on the back ...

Re: New Mac Pro - ~10"H x ~7" diameter black cylinder
Besides, I don't even think you can, for example, buy the same Samsung PCIe SSD @512 GB retail anywhere. At least, I haven't seen it yet. As of this moment in time, the nMP is pretty unique. Maybe in a year or two you could build one with identical specs and components cheaper. Is mSATA the same PC...

Re: Akasa Euler Fanless case
Got my case today. The thing is very heavy. You really wouldn't want to drop it on your foot by accident. The MB I used was an ECS H87H3-TI. Everything fit with the MB face plate, but it was wicked tight. I feel pretty certain that the CPU sits flat because I applied the paste, put the MB in place, ...

Re: New Mac Pro - ~10"H x ~7" diameter black cylinder
Question is whether it is $3000-$4000 dollars of impressive.
What is the relative cost of building a similarly quiet and powerful PC with dual firepro or quadro cards?

Re: Akasa Euler Fanless case
I've just assembled a setup with an Asus Q87T, am using the motherboard faceplate, as well as the motherboard screws, and resultantly have observed the same issue as Rotor. There's serious motherboard flex going on when I tighten the nuts of the cpu heatsink. Especially the nuts that face towards t...

Re: Akasa Euler Fanless case
If you have problems with the fit of the Euler, you could try the Akasa Galileo. The heat pipes probably offer a lot more flexibility for the mounting. Edit: BTW, the Galileo used in the SPCR review is only $45 http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=47169. I know the cooling isn't ...

idle power consumption of i3 4130???
Hi,
I am trying to decide between i3 Haswell Brix S or Thin mini-itx+i3 4130+akasa euler. My main issue with Brix is they aren't fanless.
Does anyone know what kind of power consumption I can expect from the Thin mini-itx system? Especially interested in idle consumption.
Thanks.

need advice for SFF wallmount behind TV HTPC
I need a PC for wall mounting behind a 32" TV. Budget is $500 or less with OS included. Preferably less. I want the following features: + Wifi + 2.5 HDD bay (already have drive) + low power consumption + HDMI + Win 7 or Win 8 (Don't personally care which. I am familiar with both) + Quiet (which is w...

The reason I got the job had more to do with knowing the guy that had it before me then anything else. It was alot of fun and got to play with some cool stuff. I think you could probably do it without knowing that much math; The guy before me was a great guy but not very strong intellectually. I now...

I wouldnt call this a review but the claims sound reasonable...
http://www.vr-zone.com/index.php?i=3544
they claim 25dB, 8dB quiter then stock intel HS, and 6 degrees cooler running at 54c w/ an intel P4 660. I am interested to know how far away they were when measure the noise level.

About water for cooling... I spent my internship working at the General Atomics DIII-D national fusion facility engineering water cooling systems to taim the heat of an experimental fusion reactor. What I have to say is this. Water is great for cooling. There might be better more exotic stuff but wa...
