I had a Sapphire 4870 and at stock it was still too noisy at idle. The best way I found to quiet the beast was to modify the bios to reduce 2D and UVD to GPU 160, Mem 225, voltage 1.083. It really slowed down the fan and didn't increase the video card temperature.

I tried the stock red cooling plate but my Accelero doesn't sit properly with it in place. Doesn't make proper contact with the GPU. It should make contact. I did the same thing and kept the backplate and slapped on a Accelero S1. A small section of the backplate rubbed up against Accelero but I co...

I have one. the 500w version. Its nicely priced for a modular ps. The 14cm does a good job and its quiet.

Its powering a low power E5200 oc to 3.5GHz, HD4870, without any problems. I love the modular cables, it fits nicely in my small matx case.

that's a pretty cool system there. for a while i debated a SFF for myself, but i just need expandability that i wont get from mATX. hows the build quality of the case? i have the Elite 330, and my only complaint is the holes on the rear grill, which it took me a while to set my mind to, but i final...

Just picked up an Asus 8800GT and found the stock fan to be really quiet... I can barely hear the card when I'm not gaming. The card is in a micro-atx setup and it replaced a passive video card.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you get yours?
I bought it from a small local computer store in Toronto

i have been using an sapphire x1950 pro for a few months now and found it not very noisy, however, i wanted it close to silent. You can use ATI Tray Tools, to underclock the GPU and slow down the fan while in a non-gaming environment. I'm happy and it didn't cost me a dime or void my video card's wa...

The Aspire power supply that came with the case is noisy. I had replaced the power supply with a S12 Seasonic. I had to bend a small piece of aluminum in the back of the case for it to fit. I have a short profile dvd writer (pioneer 111D) so space between the ps was not an issue.

Try suspending the hard drive.

Take a look at the bottom of the drive to see if you have the quieter Nidec motor.

Hi chirphappy,

I'm using the Asus P5LD2-VM Rev 2.0 motherboard. Unfortunately the overclocking abilities of this board is really weak... maximum 290 fsb for me. Anyways, for now, I'm content with the cpu at stock.

I just picked up a Samsung HD300LJ, it has the Nidec motor and 3 platters, however, it is so much quieter than the Seagate 7200.9 250G (2 platters). The Seagate had a whine that was driving me nuts and the seeks are extremely loud. It is now in an external enclosure. The Samsung is in my X-Qpack mAT...
