I’m aware of the theoretical approach, as I’m aware of what it states, mean and suggest. However, I’m equally aware of its work place which tends to be something else then a work bench cooling itself  . It seem the VX450W coped just fine in both reviews when they pumped a fair bit of he...

This review found the 550 neo he quieter that the 430 neo he. They also find that the Seasonic 430W S12 is notably noisier than the 500W and 600W versions and also has poorer regulation. This doesn't seem to match the observations on this forum (I don't have a Seasonic PSU so I wouldn't know myself)

What if you bolted your HDDs together with stips of aluminum or something, and then suspended that assembly? Wouldn't you somewhat mitigate the effect of soft mounting? You'd be adding a significant amount of mass to each individual drive (the mass of each other drive) which would dampen each drive...

Re: Coolermaster eXtreme Power 430W - any reviews ?
I've used a couple in E6600 PCs with low powered video cards and they are very quiet under this low loading. They're good value IMO.jeepescu wrote:has anyone tried it yet ? .

Has anyone seen or used this board yet?

I've been using the Artic Fan 12 PWM for almost 4 months now without any issues. I replaced the Antec Tri-Cool exhaust fan in my Solo case with it and used the 4-pin SYS_FAN connector on my Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 . It throttles up and down nicely along with the CPU fan on the CPU connector. I can't c...

DyJohnnY, you are going back to the "add the max possible power draw for every single component" approach for determining system power requirements. This is just plain silly as it almost impossible to do in the real world - a very thoroughly written application for a particular system configuration ...

To all those who think mcoleg is pushing the envelope of the EarthWatts, could they perhaps suggest a series of applications/tasks that mcoleg could run which would cause his system to overload his PC? I think the testing he did was pretty realistic test of how far he could push his power consumptio...

I'd get the Gigabyte P965-DS3P m/b as it allows you to undervolt the CPU further - this can greatly reduce the heat output of the CPU. Or get the DS4 if you really think heatpipes for the m/b are necessary. I wouldn't bother with a separate sound card without hearing the onboard first. What games do...

If you want to passively cool the CPU, why not go for the ThermalRight HR-01 since it was designed for this? It comes with a duct that can connect the case exhaust fan with the heatsink so that all the exhaust air flows through the heatsink (basically acting as a heatsink fan. Low rather than Medium...

The problem with the pressure in setup #2 is that it appears to be dynamic and dependent on more than just airflow -- it varies with fan size as well as the RPM/airflow of the fan. But would it be useful for comparative purposes, between fans of the same size, spinning at the same rpm? Edit: Or, mo...

I think Spanki has a point which is why I think the experiment/setup #2 results have some relevance since back pressure is not negligible in some situations. I posted this earlier but seem to have been ignored. In fact what might be useful with setup #2 is a pressure reading of the enclosure so that...

When I opened up my ST50EF+, I found that one of the coils was already hot glued. I assume this was to prevent coil whine but my PSU still had a slight whine when the system was shut down (so only a very small amount of power was being drawn). When I upgraded my system, the whine disappeared (or has...

the DS3 is a hunk of junk, IMO. Odd. Mine has none of the problems you've encountered but then I'm not trying to o/c anywhere near as far as you. I'd say that you must have been overheating the n/b and s/b to get such high o/c and it's the heat pipes on the P5B Deluxe that is keeping things stable....
