Re: Seasonic S12-430, 11.88V on +12V?
did you ever got a read of 11.88V on the +12V line before? My S12-430 reads 11.91 in this very moment (multimeter not Super I/O) - under load. What I find most surprising in this PSU is the rather low power factor (0.93) compared to my Enermax. can this kind of read be caused by some kind of "volta...

Re: Thermalright Ultra 120 Vs Scythe Ninja, Hard decision
[Rant mode ON] What is happening here? Good question. We have to live with the fact SPCR has two different results for the same heatsinks and they say they don't know why. I advise you to read the forum thread regarding the second article, you should find it interesting. It's worth of noting that on...

Re: Annoying hum after installing Scythe Andy Samurai Master
Don't worry, just boot your system and ensure it's running idle (~0% CPU usage in Task Manager).Hardtailed wrote:I'm a bit scared of turning the fan off to confirm it is the cause.
All recent Intel CPUs have throttling but it won't kick in if it's idle and the heatsink is properly installed.

I have tried both the original Aerocool Turbine and the Scythe S-Flex at the same speed on my Ultra-120.jhhoffma wrote:Perhaps one of the turbine style fans would be more suitable like the Aerocool turbine-style fans.
Temperature is lower with the Scythe - the Turbine is now used as a case fan in my Solo.

I tried remove the EN7300LE videocard and use the IGP, and power draw was exactly the same as yours. 45W at idle and saw 65W max when running a benchmark in Pc Wizard 2007. 65 nm and much lower VDimm should shave off some watts from the total. Maybe the AC load is the same because of decreased effi...

- Gfx: EN7300LE TOP/HTD/256M (fanless) IGP was not enough? I'm setting up a similar system with these differences: - CPU is a 90 nm Athlon64 Winchester 2.0 GHz (1.25V) - No discrete graphics - Seagate HDD - DDR1 RAM - S12-430W Power draw is ~45 W at idle (no CnQ) and 65W with SP2004 running, but CP...

The Ninja is not worth the switch IMO. Maybe 2 degrees at load if pressure is ok. As you have a 775 system, the other two readers are right in pointing out you should rotate your Infinity, though. Performance-wise, a Nexus is not much better than the S-Flex, especially if the latter is undervolted (...

Definitely works, many fan controllers come bundled with a sort-of-Y cable which connects only the RPM signal to the motherboard header. Regarding the 7V trick, the general consensus is that you should not put too much load as you're feeding current back to the PSU. Controllers are much more flexibl...

Test your memory with memtest86+ or RAM Probe 2007; tests #5 and #6 are known to heat memory up quit...

Are you using the casters or the rubber feet? Also, how many hard drives do you have? I use casters, they made the case so much easier to handle. I have two disk drives and three optical units; I've seen cases that had much more flimsy side panels and made of steel. With my hand, I can feel no vibr...

all the trimming (i.e. external portions of the case) is aluminum or plastic. Some kind of vibration dampening is definitely needed. You can only have vibration problems if you mount less-than-perfect (or fast) fans directly on aluminum. Otherwise the sides (and the top, if it's aluminum in your sa...

is it a good measurement of the ambient temperature in my case? No, it represents the temperature of the card, which is hotter than the air inside the case (otherwise you would experience sort of a thermal runaway) PS: 44 °C for the ambient is not bad at all, especially for passive. My undervolted...

Depends, if you bought a budget motherboard which doesn't come with heatsinks, you can actually enhance stability, board life and efficiency by using those. However it's probably cheaper to buy a board with good cooling than going aftermarket, but it's ok to know you still have options should you ch...

I have experimented a bit with ducts, but I feel a nicely laid out case with efficient heatsinks and proper airpaths can do perfectly without them (and sometimes even better than ducted - I tested cmthompson's solutions in my system and it's better left without) IMO ducts are best used in two cases:...
