hitachi is not available at my retail store, seagate is 5 USD cheaper than samsung, I use XP currently, I will use mainly for storage I have older 7200 drive for OS already Go with whatever you like or have available to you, but cross check about advance format and win xp, so you know what you will...

hard to tell, samsung never crashed on me, seagate did, but seagate is best i suppose according to reviews, wd is expensive and worse than the other 2 for features

ide was in slave mod after I changed it to master the issue solved and copying 40 MB took 2 seconds
yet I am not sure if I put on another ide drive as slave will the same issue appear again and why even in slave mod the harddisk was that slow anyway
