Re: What's a good silent 400W PSU that is high quality?

http://www.silentpcreview.com/Nexus_Value_430 I've been using one since 2010 and I'm still very happy with it. you can also find it in the table of the article that was linked to earlier http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1297-page4.html Seasonic G360 is very loud by comparison. Sadly the Nexus wa...

I've done many improvements to my rig over the past years. The motherboard is now an Asus P5KPL/1600 with 2Gigs of DDR 400 Ram by Kingston HyperX. Using 2 1TB Samsung ecogreen HDDs. The modified Thermaltake Sonic Tower now cools an Intel e5400. The grapicscard is now a passively cooled Ati hd4670 by...

I've been usign a modified(bent) Thermaltake Sonic Tower for a few years, it's performance has been on par compared to an unmodified version.

hi,

I can't recommend using Zalman's flower heatsinks, I was very dissapointed with their noise and cooling performance.

I would go for a high performance tower heatsink and since you don't use a graphicscard, you'll easaly be able to pull-off a two fan system

hi, how much fans you need depends largely on case and airflow design. I've designed my AMD Semperon 2800+ desktop PC to run on only one fan, a 120mm Nexus fan @7V in the PSU. The power output of your system is higher, so I couldn't recommend running on one fan alone. Sounds to me like you could red...

my general use PC has only one noisy component left, one of those small hsf's on my Radeon 9550. other than that the two 120mm nexus fans @7V and soft-mounted HDD's make a pretty silent system. HTPC's are usually a different story, since the wife, family and friends expect it to be as quiet as any o...

:D got to love those cats.

I did a silencing project where I fully exposed the fans at the back of the PC.
The next day my cat noticed and couldn't stop 'investigating' the fans :?

some wire fingerguards fixed that :D

thanks, thejamppa will try that. Never got around to test ducting, but I noticed that ducting sure is needed to force the airflow in the correct way. basically air goes from the high pressure zone at the CPU to the low pressure zone at the PSU. hardly optimal for any of the hardware especially the P...

Thanks for the replies. Rotating 90deg. isn't possible because of the shape of the heatsink foot and the mounting system. well I did a test run yesterday, running the system for 12 hours, at idle and playing games. CPU temp fluctuated between 39-48 deg. without ducting. I will test this weekend if d...

hi,

love the D-vine cases.

I always thought the ideal setup would be sucking up air through the radiator and out of the case through a ducted vent hole above it, but the ducted exhaust path you created should work just as good.

So all I can say is that I'm impressed ;)
