Re: Replacing the front fan on a Coolermaster Cosmos II?
why not just use 1 or 2 silent 140mm fans ? I believe those are supported on the front of the cosmos II in stead of the 200mm fan

Re: Cryorig R1 Ultimate & Universal CPU Coolers
Got the new pc with the Cryorig R1 Ultimate and according to asus suite 3, my fan can go as low as 328 rmp ?
Wouldn't this affect the results ? (don't know the performace yet on this speed, I'l planning on some OC'ing once I got everything installed)

You know what might be good in a silent gaming rig: a Cryorig R1 Ultimate. If only we had a SPCR review of thisMikeC wrote:There were 2 tries, the second with the extra fan in front. That's what gave the improved temps -- and allowed a slightly slower GPU fan speed.

pwm testing is not really possible for me at this moment. Looks like you'll have to wait for Mike to conclude his testing

Hi,
I'm just now seeing that my post got moved to this seperate topic. I'll try to retest this evening and provide you with the updated numbers.
Might even also try to hook them up to fanexpert2 (but don't shoot me if I don't get to that )

Re: Could use a sanity check of my Haswell-E builld
just tested the cryorig ultimate R1 real quickly for sound. Speedwise, I got it down to 30% using a fan controller. Both fans at this speed are inaudible. Had to actually put my head next to it (talking about 1" away) to hearany sound at all. In a case or when 30cm (almost 12") away, you will not he...

Re: Could use a sanity check of my Haswell-E builld
In that case (if you're hoping/aiming for 16x/16X) I'm afraid I might have some bad news for you. According to anandtech , the i5820k does not support 40 lanes, only 28 lanes, meaning that in SLI, you will always go 16X/8X, no matter which slots you use. That means that gamins-wise, your gain will b...

Re: Could use a sanity check of my Haswell-E builld
Checked with Cryorig support today regarding blocking the first PCI-E slot: Sorry to tell you this but the R1 Ultimate will block the first PCI-E slot on the Asus X99-A. That probably means that i wont be going with the Cryorig, but the Noctua instead (which we have screenshots on the X99 Deluxe bo...

Ow yeah: I forgot: C'mon Mike, review that Cryorig !!! They just contacted me w/ an apology that the samples won't be shipped till next month due to production being unable to keep up with high demand. So I would estimate close to Nov's end before we can get reviews posted. Too bad :( In the ...

subscribing to this thread because it mimics my future build :D Especially the Cryorig R1 ultimate is very much on my wanted list. Looked up some youtube clips regarding the sound and found one where they compared it to the NH-D15. They only tested at max speed, the R1 seemed a bit louder, but the s...

Antec introduces P380
Link can be found here Seems that the case will be sturdier than the P280. Some info: * everything until eatx motherboards (included) is supported; 9 extension slots. * 1 120mm fan can be mounted on the back; 3 120mm or 2 140mm fans can be mounted on the front & top * 9 3,5" or 2,5" drives can be mo...

Re: Antec or Phanteks (or something else that doesn't rhyme)
I imagine you read the review of the antec and the Phantek ? In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either one of these fans. Both can get quiet, both will keep the temps reasonable. It just depends on what you favor more: a little bit more silence or a little bit lower temps. One small remark on Ab...

Re: Silverstone Fortress FT02 ATX Case
The love story of a man and his case. First off, let me make clear that I am in no way connected to Silverstone :) My search for my ultimate silent pc case started back in the day when I got a noisy pc in a coolermaster centurion 532 with lots of noisy parts in it. I don’t even remember how I ended...

the fight against dust: new type of filter
S2Innovation has released a selfdeclared revolutionary anti-dust filter
The case isn't my cup of tea, but it's good to see that some companies are still looking to improve the dust filtering capacities of cases.

Best CPU-cooler & fans for 4670k in a Fortress FT-02
I'm currently doubting between 3 cpu-coolers for my 4670k (that will be overclocked) in a FT-02: * Thermalright HR-02 Macho * Phanteks PH-TC14PE * Thermalright True Spirit 140mm (yes, this does exist too) * noctua nh-u14s The HR-22 (now that's big) is not yet considered since no release-date or spec...

Too bad the prolimatech fans were not included :( The red vortex 14 is quite silent (this fan was used for the prolimatech genesis review) and the ultra sleek vortex 14 from prolimatech seems very interesting to me. Any chance these will also be reviewed, next to the ty140 & other fans mentioned abo...

The impact of motherboard layout on silent computing
Can anybody explain why motherboards are as they are (regarding their layout I mean) ? The reason for this is that for a silent pc, the layout does not seem optimal. The thing that got me going was my old Silverstone ft-02 case. Silverstone was on to something there. Let’s take a look why that case ...

I've used it in my FT-02 case without causing buzzing (was actually very happy with this fan controller. Would have reused it in my Cosmos II if that was possible)

Re: Trying to silence a game+oc rig
Hi, For your GPU, the easiest way would be to get an updated bios (did you check gigabyte's website ?). Other than that, do you know what kind of plug the fans have ? (On my gigabyte cards, it's a small non standard plug) Maybe you could wire together (buy ?) an adapter that would allow you to plug...

Re: Trying to silence a game+oc rig
To give an update about this setup: Fan xpert2 works like a charm ! On normal use, the fans can be made inaudible for me: * passive PSU on low load * 2 hd-fans @ 500-600 rpm * front intake, 1 cpu fan & top 140mm case fan: stopped * other cpu fan & top 120mm case fan: +/- 700 rpm This results in a ve...

Re: Trying to silence a game+oc rig
Found the answer to both my questions: * turning off fans is possible * the 6th fan is the OPT_header and is linked to the CPU fanheader However, I've found a new problem: the 4 case fanheaders can control 3pin & pwm fans. The cpu fanheader however needs a pwm fan to be controlled correctly via xper...

Re: Trying to silence a game+oc rig
seems that 3pin fans can indeed be controlled via xpert2. I'm a bit confused about 2 things however: 1. Will fan xpert 2 be able to shut down fans when below a certain temperature threshold 2. both the asus pro & deluxe motherboard seem able to control 6 fans; however in the SPRC review, there are o...
