Photoshop CS3 does not benefit at all from 4 cores vs 2. There's little point if it "officialy supports" 4 cores. Fact is there's no boost in performance. At the same clock speed, Quad & Dual core CPUs perform exactly the same with CS3. Just look at the benchmark around with E6600 and Q6600. Maybe ...

Re: SCYTHE S-FLEX SFF21D 800 RPM VS SFF21E 1200 RPM

I am leaning toward the SFF21E 1200 Rpm as I read the SFF21D 800 Rpm ticks. Opinions, experience to help me decide ? I am currently using the 800rpm scythe on my Thermalright 120 Ultra. No ticks. Dead silent. I have a E4400 overclocked from 2 to 2.9Ghz and the temperatures today are of 33°C idle a...

If you game, well I partially agree, because having a GPU that is powerful, silent, cool and power-savvy at the same time is not doable. Powerful+silent+acceptably cool, but not energy efficient. On the other side, if you don't game, then you have many choices to get all the above requirements satis...

Re: P180 PSU suggestion

Its interesting you say that about the p182 as I have read in numerous places that the P180 now has all the features of the p182 ie raised motherboard, slots for water cooling etc etc. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums...1cb1355409e68a Well then great news! I wasn't aware of these recent modific...

Just out of curiosity...

I never want to own a monitor with a resolution higher than 1280x1024 (or its widescreen equivolant) Why? and id never want a screen larger than 19" with a resolution that low (would look like shit). I agree. To be honest, for my monitor use, even a 19" 4:3 at 1280x1024 has a pixel pitch that is to...

Re: P180 PSU suggestion

Hi Guys, I'm about to purchase an Antec P180 case, P35 DS4 mobo and GeForce 8800GTS. I'm undecided at the moment about which PSU to match this combination with. I've nailed it down to 2: Antec Neo HE 550 Corsair HX 520 I've read good things about both, better things about the corsair. I was conside...

Well I think the most important thing is that a 8600gt satisfy your needs. If this is the case, then great! I also can see the point of passive cooling and low power consumption, but we can't say that a 8600gt will be a noticeable improvement for the user, coming from a X800XL (512MB I assume?). In ...

To the OP: I think you should first point out the main use of the system. Without knowing this in advance, how can we tweak your configuration or suggest possible modifications? My needs could be much different from yours, and there is no perfect setup. For the most part, I'm like everyone else; 80...

Can you return anything? If so, I'd return: The Seagate, and replace it with a Western Digital or Samsung 2GB of the 4GB of RAM. Unless you have a 64-bit OS, you cannot use all 4GB. And for most applications, 2GB is enough. The money is better spent elsewhere, IHMO. Can you order stuff online? If s...

Re: It depends.

Well, the Hr03 can safely cool passively ANY GPU currently on the market. In a low airflow case it won't work passively. In fact, I said ANY GPU, not any video card. In a P180 or P182 with tricool on low, it will work passively if the HR03 is mounted on the back of the video card. Same applies if y...

It depends.

Well, the Hr03 can safely cool passively ANY GPU currently on the market. However, mosfets will run very hot during gaming, since they won't be cooled by the main heatsink, but by smaller ones, and this COULD cause instability. So ensure you have decent airflow in your case, around the video card, o...

Go out and buy a Dell 2407wfp Rev A04 when the rebate is available. I've been using one for 2 months now and I can't recommend it enough. Re: Upgrade Asus EN7600GS to Gigabyte 8600GT

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics as my card struggles with the resolution on my Dell 21" WS. I want a passively cooled card and I have a bit more of an interest in games than I did when I first built my system, so game performance is a factor... I know the Gigabyte 8600GTS is abit higher spec but...

Re: Upgrade Time: Aiming for Silence

C2D E4300 ($120) I picked the E4300 because it too is a great deal. But I also plan to OC it to 3GHz . (7x429) Edit: And yes I will be reusing my TT Big Typhoon. The E4300 has a 9x multiplier. So you need 333x9 to get to 3Ghz, with some overvolt. Anyway, prices went down considerably last ...

Re: Fanless PCI-E card for 30" display

My monitor just bit the dust and I was looking at a Dell or Apple 30" display. It turns out that for that I will need a dual-link DVI-D graphics card that supports 2560 x 1600 resolution. My fanless GeForce 6600 doesn't support that so, if I decide to go big, I'll need to upgrade the graphics card ...
