Just thought I'd say I replaced the fan with a Xilence Red Wing 80mm rated at 15dbA and the difference is astounding. I could sleep with this machine on, it so much quieter. My temps have gone up a few degrees, the Red Wing obviously moves less air than the stock fan did, but they're nothing to worr...

The PSU calculator suggests I need 450W of power. That rises to 540W if I add a second graphics card and run them SLI. I'm a student and the end of my academic year, I just don't have the money to buy a new PSU. And even if I did it wouldn't make sense. My current rig will be running as a server for...

Re: #### General FAQ ####
Q: Can SPCR review this (heatsink/powersupply/case/fan/hard drive)? A: Yes. We don't generally buy samples but rely on donations from users and contributions from sponsoring retailers and companies. If you would like to see a product here on SPCR, don't write to MikeC. Write to the company and/or i...

Recommended PSU Fan
Before I build my new PC this summer, I have to live with my current one for a few months. I don't use it much because it's so loud: the vast majority of the noise comes from the PSU. A "Coolermaster eXtremePower 380W PSU Supersilent RS-380-PMSP". Hardware.info says this device produces 62.5dbA at 2...

Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse double-clicking issue
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum I've been using my MX700 (part of my Cordless Desktop MX) for nearly 3 years now. Lately, it has developed an issue where when I click, it is often registered as a double-click. Very occasionally, the click is not registered at all. It's not a signal problem a...

"Laptop-feel" PC keyboards
I'm looking for a keyboard that meets the following requirements: * Looks good * Has laptop-style (low-rise, flat) keys * Has a full-size QWERTY layout I spend most of my day typing on a laptop, and I'm now finding it difficult to type on standard keyboards. I've found one so far, the KeySonic ACK-5...

You both have different opinions on 2x 8600GTS vs 1x 8800GTS. What do other people have to say? :) After reading this thread and this review , it seems a single 8800GTS beats two 8600GTS. If I have the money, I'll get an 8800GTS that is roughly the price of the two 8600s. I found this card, which w...

Thanks for your replies :D The 74GB raptors are definitely a lot better and don't cost much more than the 34s, so I'll probably get those. If they ruin the silence of the machine, well, I'll have to live with it. I do a lot of disk-intensive work, sometimes involving huge files, other times involvin...

Summer Build (P182)
Hi, Great site! The reviews have been very helpful in helping me choose components for the machine I will be building over summer. My shoppings list is as follows: * Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 * Cooled by Thermalright HR-01-775 and 120MM TriCool on low * Asus Striker NF680i * MSI 8600GTS Passively coole...
