Re: Need help picking a mid range card for gaming

But if you want silence heaven, even at load, I suggest the Powercolor 6850 SCS3 with a 800 rpm Slipstream fan zip-tied. Link to product at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131442&Tpk=scs3%206850 I have this setup in a Solo case, and with the fan set to ~600 rpm, max...

Re: Looking for dual video cards for recording studio DAW

Thanks for the feedback guys! Like I said, Eyefinity is pretty much a no-go for me on this one. After calling AMD, they confirmed that a 2x, 1 extendted configuration is not supported by the current slate of Eyefinity cards (like I said, two monitors, one on top of the other, in landscape; the other...

Looking for dual video cards for recording studio DAW

Hey guys :) I'm trying to run 3 - 4 monitors (unfortunately I don't think that eyefinity will work since I'm using two in portrait and two in landscape) and looking for the best solution for a project studio build I'm finishing up. I usually use passive cards when building a DAW, but I'm not sure th...

On the ATI side of the fence, the HIS 2600XT with iSilence III has been working great for studio applications as a DAW. I've also used it with good results for Photoshop, AVID and Premiere and some stuff using ToonBoom. It's not a gaming card, but for the type of work I've referred to here it's been...

Nice job :)

I have one dumb ass question though. How did you manage to squeeze the PSU into the P182 cage. I'm using the same case and PSU and it seems it be a hair small for mine (was only able to get the front two screws on, and was curious if you removed the top bumper to achieve this.

Just in case it comes up, my results with a passive Ninja Mini, HIS ATI 2600 XT with iSilence III and two HDDs are just a tad higher that Jeepscu using the same processor (Q6600 with G0 stepping) at low speed. 24-27C with TriCools on high (at idle) and 33-36C on low (at idle). I compared results usi...

I know that this post is aged a bit, but I was concerned about temps as well and found this post via search. I'm with bonestonne on this one as far as heatsink is concerned. I just put together my build in a P182 with a passively cooled Ninja mini and with the two upper TriCools on high, the temps o...

P182 or Take 4 for DAW case?

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster :D I'm about to build a C2D or C2Q DAW for a new recording area that's going to be specifically for voiceover. Normally I'd just use the same solution that I've been using for my other recording areas and have an Apple or Dell system in a separate contro...
