Re: just got a Fractal Design R3... my opinions
The reviewers must be getting lemon cases. Fractal Mini I got is great, why pay more - put it toward better video.

I have the Fusion 430 black here and am in a similar situation. I was thinking of getting a 4870 as it has an exhaust design. Right now I have an older 8800 without exhanust and temps are do-able but hanging in the 70C range on the GPU with the CPU hanging in the 45range (55-60 load). Maybe ATI will...

Let me throw a scenario on the fire: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48416 I have recently completed my new build. Unfortunately there is a loud tapping noise coming from the Enermax Modu82+ PSU. It sounds like the blades of the fan are hitting the metal grill as they rotate Ot...

Pony Express (UPS) left a package at my front door tonight, so I installed my replacement 425W I I can say it is a very quite PSU. I would not classify it as silent but it is more than quite enough for most applications at this point. Now for the con - My first unit was ordered from NewEgg back on A...

Well things are not going well on the Enermax side of things. After posting the short review of experience here as well as the vendor (NewEgg), both drew responses from the vendor that a RMA could quickly correct the issue as it must be due to a defective part. So I filled out the PDF from the Enerm...

Only got as far as putting it back in the box, as I have been busy the last few weeks working a double shift. The temporary unit I am using is loud and would like to replace that one with the Modu82+ 425W as intended. One other thing I was thinking is that I have my computer plugged in to an APC Bac...

Bad Modu82+ 425W
Well from my limited use of the Modu82+ 425W I liked how quite it was and the design was nice. The bad part is that my unit would overheat after about 5-10 minutes of idle use (even if just at the POST screen). Then the system would power off and back on but wouldd power right back off after a minut...

If you want silent then none of the Shuttle brand will not work - they are not built for slient operation. As I said I do not have a sound meter and I also have my unit in a vented enclosed space under my desk. Most do not do have their unit places like this - but for me it fits it's purpose and spa...

If they are on high yes thay can be loud. Low speed they can not be heard with the case on my desk, medium a little louder. However I have mine inside a custom vented section of my desk and have no issue. Silent the SP35P2 is not. It is however quite and makes for a much better PC. The big win in my...

Re: P182, SLI + Thermalright: Initial questions on new syste
Got the same parts excpet for graphics I have a pair of EVGA GTS-640 cards, if building today I would go with the 8800GT SSC 512MB (may even just save money and not SLI). The next generation probably will not be here till around May. Mainboard wise I would use 780i so that I might be able to use the...

Interesting because I can not hear normally my Raptor or AAKS in my 182. If I listen and do a file operation I might be able to hear it but nothing above background noise levels. At first, I thought the sound was the fans. I stopped each fan in turn, and it made no difference. I unplugged the HDDs,...

I have both the AS and AAKS, and the KS is certainly quieter for idle noise. Seek noise too I think. Don't have the KS version but do have the AAKS one in the bottom of my P182. I can not hear it nor can I hear the Raptor 150 next to it running the OS. In the bottom of a P182, I can hear the AAKS e...

I used a Dremel to cut it out (I think it looks better without the metal there, not sure how much it helps with air flow.) As for adding a second fan I think that would be a bad idea as you could/will get "dead air" due to presure issues. Your temps should be fine with just the normal fan location. ...

I found the SG03 has the neatest cable management, once you have thought it through, with the P180 well things get very messy routing cables behind the mobo, and the HDD area is a real pain can only fit 3HDD in there due to having to put SATA Data & Power cables in one of the HDD Bays... 182 has a ...
