Re: just got a Fractal Design R3... my opinions

The reviewers must be getting lemon cases. Fractal Mini I got is great, why pay more - put it toward better video.

I have the Fusion 430 black here and am in a similar situation. I was thinking of getting a 4870 as it has an exhaust design. Right now I have an older 8800 without exhanust and temps are do-able but hanging in the 70C range on the GPU with the CPU hanging in the 45range (55-60 load). Maybe ATI will...

Let me throw a scenario on the fire: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48416 I have recently completed my new build. Unfortunately there is a loud tapping noise coming from the Enermax Modu82+ PSU. It sounds like the blades of the fan are hitting the metal grill as they rotate Ot...

I have not used either the Seasonic S12-II/E+s and the Corsair HX, but it is quiter than the Seasonic MII-600 that I have used in estmation (I do not have a db meter).

Pony Express (UPS) left a package at my front door tonight, so I installed my replacement 425W I I can say it is a very quite PSU. I would not classify it as silent but it is more than quite enough for most applications at this point. Now for the con - My first unit was ordered from NewEgg back on A...

I can vouch for the need for better quality control as well as better RMA handling. Still waiting on my RMA'd 425 PSU - comming via pony express and should be here Wednesday (shipped outbound 5-22). I'll post and update to my experience later this week.

Well things are not going well on the Enermax side of things. After posting the short review of experience here as well as the vendor (NewEgg), both drew responses from the vendor that a RMA could quickly correct the issue as it must be due to a defective part. So I filled out the PDF from the Enerm...

Bad Modu82+ 425W

Well from my limited use of the Modu82+ 425W I liked how quite it was and the design was nice. The bad part is that my unit would overheat after about 5-10 minutes of idle use (even if just at the POST screen). Then the system would power off and back on but wouldd power right back off after a minut...

70mm and a 92mm on the CPU/Case Cooler

Pair of 60mm fans on the rear above the power supply. These fans are wired together.

All fans included are the 4-pin PWM. There is also a 4th fan header avaiable but it is only a 3-pin.

Got the same parts excpet for graphics I have a pair of EVGA GTS-640 cards, if building today I would go with the 8800GT SSC 512MB (may even just save money and not SLI). The next generation probably will not be here till around May. Mainboard wise I would use 780i so that I might be able to use the...
