I honestly dont know what the drain is - but the fan on the ac/dc brick is supposed to turn on when > 90W, and it hasn't. I assume its probably near ~ 60-70. Its default setup with no OC'ing or voltage changes. No optical drive - installed OS using USB Pen (ubuntu, netinstall). Nothing has been disa...

Replaced my Mac Mini Server
I finally got all of the stuff I wanted - and was able to build my new server to replace the aging "ahem" Mac Mini (Core Duo, 1GB Ram). I have replaced it with an Antec NSK 1380 case, with Gigabyte Motherboard (GA-G33M-DS2R), Core 2 Duo E8400, 4GB Ram and a WD 120BEVS disk. All powered by a picopsu ...

Gutted NSK1380 - need cooler
I am planning a build using a nsk1380 with external psu, so lots of room. Unfortunately, I cannot get a hold of a ninja - they have all been replaced with ninja2, which seems to be a bit bigger? Can I fit a Ninja 2? - or the Mugen? What about the Xigmatek HDT-S1283? Other coolers that could be recom...

I do not plan to add any graphics card to the setup - the onboard is fine. I do not expect a high airflow in the setup (passive hsf, 120mm outtake). However, I guess the X2 4000 and X1950PRO uses a fair amount of Watts? - compared to an Core 2 Duo @45nm and no graphics card? I know that there are 80...

PW-200-M or PicoPSU?
Which should I get? I like the wide input of the picopsu - but I also like the 200 watts of the PW-200. I did read some compatibility issues with the PW-200 though? I plan to use it with a generic 110W AD-DC (yes, makes the 200W a bit moot - but might be relevant in the future). Also - having proble...

I dont like the upgrade the mac solution, since that doesn't really help me in the future as I will still be limited to the somewhat limited motherboard on the mini. I need at least 2 GB ram since I plan to run some application server on it (Glassfish). Switching to no name ram is really not needed,...

Replacing my mac mini server
I am planning on "upgrading" my mac mini, which I use as a server (web, mail, irc, file etc). It's been working fine, but its time to upgrade it to something more "future" proof. So far this is what I am putting together: Case: NSK1380 PSU: Included Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R CPU: Core 2 Duo...

I was thinking of replacing the internal disks with samsung spinpoints instead - but I found out that it already used those disks!

I recently bought a Drivestation Duo. Apart from some setup it performs as expected. However I would like to mod the fan. Has anybody attempted this ?

Great review. Looks like a great system, if a bit cheap to look at. When a media PC being used, we can expect the sound of the movie or TV program, or music to have a significant masking effect on the PC's noise. Except for those silent scenes and the sound of the fans and humming of the drive that ...

try running the fur benchmark - in stability mode. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1717 set at 32 MSAA and windowed mode, resolution doesn't matter. Fire up TAT too, and set 1 core to 100% workload. Let it run for 20-30 mins, and report temps. I've found games to not stress cards that m...

So in effect, I can never know the real value? - I can add 15, but that might not be entirely true? What about the above penryn temps, should we add 15 to those too? Since my processors is specced to 72C max, does that mean 57C in TAT? (that would mean ~47C for the older C2D version, waay too low?) ...
