It all looks good, if you want a quiet 8800GT, read this review: http://www.cpu3d.com/content/view/3438/53/ I had my eye on that, but I can't find anywhere here in Finland. I was also thinking about the Sparkle passively cooled 88GT but I don't dare run a 88GT without a fan. The Zalman VF830 on the...

New build, comments?

So I'm about to pull the trigger on this one, but I of course want some input from you guys first. Now I'm not aiming for the ultimate silence, but for respectable performance and function with silence as a added benefit. GPU: Leadtek PX8800 GT LZ (after market Zalman VF830 cooler pre-installed) CPU...

I'm pretty sure the Ultra-120 Extreme it's the best for any processor right now. It's expensive though.

The 620HX is very good PSU, modular, cool and quiet and a massive warranty.

Well, I like discussing/debating hardware, regardless if I'm "wasting" my time or not. Also, a hell of a lot reviewers seem to agree with the "hype". In fact I've yet to read a review that has anything bad to say about them, expect of the high price and color choice. Now I'm considering of buying on...

I happened upon this review of the P12 just now. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/3792-noctua-nf-p12-120mm-fan-review.html Where they test it against, among others, a Yate Loon D12SL-12, on a Ultra-120 Extreme and a Black Ice Extreme single fan radiator. In that review ...

I always figured the NF-P12 were the "best" because, while not cooling as well as others (but still within just a few degrees), they did it a much lower noise level. And this noise level is what we people here at SILENTpcreview should prioritize, right?

Noctua NF-P12 are supposed to have a great performance/sound level, expensive though.

There is a interesting thread about them here: viewtopic.php?p=391512#391512

Clocking quads with only air is quite possible and perfectly safe, they do run hotter than a dual core, of course, but thats the only difference.

Re: Antec P182 and Other Build Considerations

[quote="chaohuei"]Lots of text/quote] I can only partly answer 1 and 2. 1.) I can't say for sure, but from what I've heard the HX520 should have enough length in it's cords. 2.) The P182 comes with dust filters. They DO catch a lot dust, at least the one I saw, regular cleaning of these filters shou...

I've been playing with my ip35 pro and using the windows uguru software you can click the button optimize (at least) for the sys fan. Mine, a 1600 s-flex, goes down to 2.5 v! and 800 rpm, inaudible from 1 m away. The 2.5 v setting gets saved to the BIOS and works well later even in linux. Anyone wa...

I've been reading this thread with much interest and I've been thinking. Maybe instead of the PSUs being faulty, maybe it's just a case of over-sensitive users? As in maybe indeed all of the mentioned PSUs buzz and whine to a certain degree, but it's only detectable by certain people. Try inviting s...

Would you then see this "B" model as a better alternative then? As I could care less for the temperature sensors on the standard MCF-2, I wouldn't be loosing anything I care about and by the looks of it I can control an additional two fans on the 2B (granted, a somewhat limited control for those ext...

Here is what I've been wondering about the standard Zalman MFC-2 controller, is it's RPM setting accurate? I mean if connect a 120x120 fan to it and set it to spin at 800 RPM, will it then actually spin at that speed?
