I got the DS3P rev 2.0. The NB heatsink doesnt link to the power regulators though. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/Image/motherboard_productimage_ga-p35-dq6_1.0_big.jpg Its the same size as that one minus all the pipe leadin to the other parts and the silentpipe cover covers the whole length in...

Re: Nice work
If I were going to plug up one of the fan openings on the P180/P182 cases, it would be the rear one. Simply put, "heat rises." I have modded many cases over the years to add fans in the top of the case pointed upwards. Sorry for bring up an old topic. We all know heat rises but everyone has differe...

Sorry my fault I didnt look at your diagram correctly but yea that should work, just don't take my word for it because I've never fitted the heatsink in reverse before. But judging by pictures it does look like it only overs up 1 slot above the video card. Regarding the passive cooling of it, I only...

Hey Fungi, did you try the SI128 and Ultra90 on the same system with same CPU? If so would you happen to have rough temperature estimates of both? I do agree that tower coolers cools more efficiently but I'm curious as to how much a performance difference it is. Just find it hard to find reviews tha...

The HR03GT takes up 2 adjacent slots (3 if you add a fan which you should as its not great for passive, try the accelero s1 if you wanna go that path). I believe the S1 takes as much space as the HR03 but works better than the HR03 passive. If you do want to keep the HR03 you might try mountin the t...

Top down heatsink or tower heatsink?
As the topic says, I can't make up my mind. Where I went from is an XP-90, and just yesterday I bought an si-120 for AU$10 but the performance is more or less the same. Now I'm thinking of throwing away more money on the Ultima 90 which is AU$56 but I'm not sure if it make much difference. Does anyo...

I'd try the 8800GT on stock cooling before you pay for an additional cooler, the fan is pretty quiet under normal useage. I'd agree unless you like to look at low temps (like I do). Stock cooling IF you adjust the fan settings (rivatuner) temps are fine. Only time when it gets real noisy is during ...

I think the Aurora is ugly myself. I like the Antec 900, reminds me of the Tumbler from Batman Begins. The P180 is kind of blah now. Though it is a home run of a case on the inside. I do like the chrome one still though. I think the crowd here tends to be older (myself included) and favors a more p...

I have the p35-ds3p and I have nexus fans runnin off it at around 700rpm. Seems to be fine. I know with one of the older gigabyte board (cant remem which model) it has problems with the cpu fan header where it doesnt start up the fan sometimes or runs it at too low speed that the motherboard starts ...

Yea, I don't think the hr03 fairs too well with such low airflow. I'll take off the fan now and see if it affect the temps too much. I know with the XP90 on my CPU, with the nexus fan @100% it was bour 3 - 4 degrees higher than with the panaflo fan I currently have on it running at some low speed (h...

Like Nick said, the stock cooler made very little with any of the vrms. I was able to tell when I removed the stock heatsink and the thermal pads covering the vrms was hardly even squashed at all. How is your S1 going? I went and got the HR03 GT ($64, S1 was $37 + $11 for extra ramsinks but I would ...

how many total slots are taken up when using the S1 with a 120mm fan strapped to it? If it's a 25mm thick fan, 4 slots total. If you use a 15mm thick fan or the AC Turbo Module, it's 3. Whoa didnt think it took up that many slots! What do you guys rekon, the Accelero in Australia is $37 plus $12 fo...

You want to get the heat out, using the top as an intake just circulates the heat around. I thought the 8800 Ultra had a slot cooler that blows air outside the case in the first place? My 8800GT blows hot air in the case and system temps don't increase much (even tho Ive now ducted the hot air outsi...
