Sorry, I am being really thick here.

My 3.5" drive has a four pin power connector from the power supply. How does the 2.5" drive get power?

Installing / connecting 2.5" sata drive

Hi,

I have never used a laptop drive in a desktop pc before but I have bought the drive I want.

How do I connect this sata drive? What I am really after is does the 2.5" drive need a seperate power connector like 3.5" drives?

Thanks,

David

My only experiance with cpus that are not supported by the bios was Opterons in 939 motherboards, where they were not officially supported. On my rig it cause the temp reading to be wrong. The multiplier is set by the cpu. Otherwise we would be hacking the bios to give us unlocked multipliers. Do a ...

I thought about taking them off... I may do that when I take it back off to install the supports (which I forgot to put on the first time) and some AS5. EDIT: I am considering replacing the fan in the PSU and have been doing some reading on this forum about it. Would I be alright replacing it with ...

Did the clips that hold the fan on the lower drive bay (the one pointing at your graphics card) come with the case?

I would be interested in how you attached that fan. It looks like there is some kind of rubber to limit vibration, is that right? Where did you get it?

Nice looking box.

Take the black plastic top and bottom off of the accelero! You can do it with a screw driver, very easy.

Actually, maybe you like them being there but I took them off of mine as soon as I saw them.

However, you should have little trouble putting a drive on the 'floor' of the case. You could use the rubber grommets that come with the case and maybe drill a couple of small holes through the bottom to attach it. A ten minute mod at the most. I think someone has done this previously as I can remem...

You might take a look at the Turbo Module if you're using SLI and low on space. Those fans are only 15mm thick, so the whole enchilada won't take more than 3 slots of space, 2 of which cooling. They do have their own little problems, as they don't have frames around them so you need to be careful w...

I have a SLI setup with two of these coolers. Pros: - Inexpensive - Effective cooling (depending on case airflow, see below) - Can accommodate large fan if necessary. Cons: - Very large - SLI/crossfire setup requires extended flexible SLI bridge connector - Fans will most likely not be an option in ...

1. The 182 is bigger, has a front door, lower power supply / hard drive mounting area, and better cable management. The Solo has a single tri-cool 120mm exhaust (and optional 2x92mm intake fans). If you are going to change fans then this should not be part of your decision. 2. Probably but I would e...

Will the Accelro S1 fit on this card? Yes it will. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2571240 The fact that I have an S1 on my current card makes this a very attractive upgrade. Just a few thoughts. The 3870 performance is getting closer to the 8800GT as drivers are released. Also...

Wow.

Laptops are notorious for this. Probably because they draw air from so close to the desk.

Glad it's fixed for you.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. Your temps at the moment are much to high. Make sure you have thermal paste and isopropyl alcohol (or similar, to clean the cpu). But I wouldn't be surprised if it is just dust accumulation. My parents laptop was having similar problems in the summer and a good...

Graphics cards throttle with heat as well. You can see this as an error in event viewer with L1 -> L2 transition (or something similar). Just curious did this create an event in event viewer? And yes, dust it out. It can help to take the cpu cooler out and give it a proper clean. It is usually helpf...

I just built a similar computer in the Solo. I had two Nexus 92mm intakes on a controller to around 6V. They were bringing air into the case but I ended up removing the fans and fan mounting structure, leaving an open hole where the fans used to be. Temps remained essentially the same. This is with ...
