Re: what makes the macbook air so quiet?

Why this one is more silent? Because it was constructed this way... Right Sherlock, but I'm obviously hoping somebody has an intelligent comment about how it is constructed, in the sense of the physical attributes that differ from almost all others, that lead to such silence. Apple-Tax that is. No ...

Re: what makes the macbook air so quiet?

That doesn't answer the question.

Many laptops have fans running low but they're very audible.

Perhaps somebody has opened it and had a look and seen what is distinctive about it relative to others?

what makes the macbook air so quiet?

It's unusual that a system with a fan is so quiet. But i've heard that one can't even hear the fan when one's ear is against it.

What is it that makes it so quiet, and do other laptops have that quality?

like, inaudible even with ear against it?

And I know smaller laptops will often have a cramped keyboard. obviously there are going to be people with laptops where the up arrow is separated from other keys properly. I'm not a...

anybody that wants a silent computer badly will pay postage. It is not that bad on small items. Anyhow.. You can get it in italy. you could contact picopsu and look for italian retailers. OR if you contact 20 people or places in italy that sell the thing, I guarantee that at least one, and probably ...

Laptops with solid state drives. Any write endurance issue?

Hi What is the write endurance on the solid state drives they are including with laptops? Is it 2 million ? 4 million? I have heard that with a solid state drive, since they wear out.. People optimise their system to deal with it.. So for windows xp, they turn off virtual memory. Or better, they use...

Re: where can I find efficient brick to match with Pico Psu?

Hi! this is my first post and I really hope to get some useful answer from you guys! I'd like to buy a pico -psu (more probably 90W) to feed my 24/24h pc... my big issue is: we have this wonderful, efficient DC-DC adapter, but what about AC-DC? I really don't know where to look to find an efficient...

I just found out people can use compact flash cards(with adaptors to connect them to IDE), or can use IDE flash modules. they are actually solid state. they would probably be noiseless. My only concern might be the "write endurance". There are some issues associated with that. I thinik USB keys use ...

With Win XP, It can get itself into a state where it makes a high pitched noise when maximizing or minimizing.. But I can get it back to normal with a win xp system restore. Can't you fan people start a different thread? The thread was for fanless laptops. It's an important subject in itself and deserves its own space. ApparentlyI have heard that the whole toughbook range is fanless. But I came across this link to a toughbook CF48 replacement fan!!!! http://www.bobjohns...

Just bought a Toshiba MK4025GAS hard drive.. the 2.5" drive recommended on that "recommended page" The page is right, it is not inaudible. Audible is too noisy for me. It makes a faint noise, and I can hear it from the other side of the room. I don`t like the noise either. when it starts up it makes...
