The HIS 3870 ICEQ seems to be by far the loadest thing in my case now. I don't know how load the stock version is, but this baby certainly could not be decribed as quiet :( Scrub that it turned out to be my motherboard making the ICEQ thrash it's fans! See this thread for the details http://www.sil...

To answer a few points I have the non turbo version of the 3870 ICEQ which is not overclocked. I believe it uses two fans to blow over the heatsinks and exhaust to the rear. I prefer to buy of the shelf but am now considering an aftermarket solution as it seems a shame that the rest is quiet. Quite...

Well all built and it is just as noisy as my last PC when I did not think about noise at all! Culprit is the HIS 3870 IceQ3 which one of the selling points is that it is quiet. It is not! Also the combination of Main Board and Ocz Reaper memory means I can't mount a fan on the Ninja for a push pull ...

Ninja Fan Position with tall memory in Antec Solo
I have an Antec Solo case and some of that Memory with the heatsink handle above it so I cannot position the fan on the ninja for a push pull effect to the exhaust fan. There is a big PSU fan above the Ninja (Does this suck or blow I could not tell) . I am cooling a E8400 CPU and am wondering if the...

On the power consumption thing every little counts and buying products whch have low power consumption sends a message to the manufacturers that you want performance and effeciency. Alot of these 'green' products make very little difference but if you think they are going in the right direction then...

Re: My quiet, fast, programming/gaming system
GPU: ATI Radeon HD3850 Not as fast as the 8800 GT obviously, but not a lot slower either, and rumoured to be much more efficient when idling. How much more efficient? I had a hard time finding good data for a comparison. Tom's Hardware has a nice list of the power consumption of older cards, and es...

Low Power, Low Noise, High Performance
This is what I have been looking for when searching the internet (especially this web site) for a shopping list for my next PC. There seem to have been a number of emerging technologies such as the 45nm dual core processors, main board energy management, low idle power requirements on high end graph...

Hmm that model seems to be cheap in the uk for a 8800GT 512MB http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4XKB&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=8800GT&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0 Does the Zalman VF700-ALCU cooler mean it is quiet? Or should I be looking at the more expensive p...
