Re: New BIOS available for Foxconn H67S - Version A41F1P01 0

That is one of the best ITX boards for silent computer builds. The reason that this Foxconn board is good for silent builds is that a large CPU cooler can be used. It will not hit the video card in the single PCI-E slot. Most ITX LGA1155 boards have the socket too close for a normal 120mm cooler to...

Re: Cooler Master Silencio 550, any first hand experience?

Thank you for contributing.

I however do like that the case has no side or top vents. I feel that really helps silencing, and perhaps add rigidity.

Cooler Master Silencio 550, any first hand experience?

Hi guys! I'm trying to find some quality information on the Cooler Master Silencio 550 . I've found several reviews, but I don't think any other computer site knows what sound proofing or silent operation is... From my own experience, CM doesn't make THE best products, but rather average. I don't li...

Re: Antec 302-S Project

This mod really inspired me to something similar to the 300 I have laying around. I bought it from a kid who didn't properly underline the botched paint job he had done on the case, so it is aesthetically unusable for me. Would you mind telling me how you prepped the case before painting it? Sanding...

Why did you position the HDD on foam? If you really want a quiet drive I urge you to buy a Himuro or similar and put that on foam or suspend it like I've done in my P182. Well, I guess I really didn't feel that the HDD-encasisngs was worth the pricetag. In retrospect, I wish I would have spent less...

Thank you for your comments. frenchie: I have to admit that I do not have extensive experience with the Nexus fans, but I can say that the 80mm one I am using in the PSU is almost dead silent at 5 V; I need to put my head at the back of the computer to hear it. The sound is a low-frequency hum, whil...

Clean like a surgery room :D The most effective foam I`ve come across is this: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w173/ntavlas/foam.jpg It`s not very easy to apply however so I`m currently using a flatter version with an aluminum layer, very easy to wrap around corners etc. Foam shouldn`t interfere...

It did not fit in my Solo at once with my Asus P5K SE/EPU. The top of the cooler was touching on a brace that runs across the case. But, I made a small cut in it, and it now fits perfectly.

Well, considering the numbers, I reckon you are right in your assessment that the GP will be the best option. Of course, the 40 GB 4200 RPM drives ARE the most quiet, but at the cost of low capacaity and speed I think they can be ruled out.

I like the look of that cooler, and it could maybe have been a viable option had it not been for the shere fact that I will never buy a product from ATI again (simply hate the drivers). Thank you for paying attention to my thread Mr. Chin. I reckon the Neo HE430 is the least expensive modular PSU on the market (right?), so even though the 80 mm Nexus is more expensive here in Norway than the 120 Slip Stream, chosing the HE430 would be the cheapest choice. Seeing that the fan has a ...

Thank you for paying attention to my thread, but I am unfortunately not after processor recommendations, as I have decided on using a Celeron 440 (due to the 35W TDP). What I am after is a GPU recommendation, a graphics card that is. The criterias are in my last post.

I am also a bit incertain of which graphics card to get. After reading some reviews on the 8500GT, it seems that it does not offer much performance for the price (as the 8600GT is marginally more expensive, but performs up to twice as well). Of course, power consumption is something that has to be t...

I guess the EA380 with a fan-swap would be the smartest choice economically. Too bad its outwards appearance doesn't represent its interals. But, I guess it's the inside that matters ;) I liked the idea though of having black connectors and cable-sleeves and such.
