If your friends bring their computers over to your place to have them fixed, the only way to silence them all is to put the computer(s) in another room. You could look into cable extensions to allow this. Obviously the drawback to this is that you'll have to physically move to the computer to power ...

The new acoustipack indeed doesn't include the drive bay foam, but then again they've also reduced the cost of everything. The last time I checked, if you build up the same package with the V2 parts you actually save more money than buying the V1 packages. In the end it all depends on the level of n...

I'm using V1 right now and it's ok, but I think I would have gone with V2 if it was out when I bought it. If you have a large tower heatsink and you use the thick foam from V1 on the side panel, you will probably have contact and even increased pressure on your motherboard. V2 seems to have addresse...

Sounds like a job for a Corsair VX450. Highly ranked here on SPCR and is around your price range. A quick search at my local computer store shows it on sale for $60 after a mail in rebate.

Do you want endurance and durability in your system? This only further emphasizes the need for a reliable power supply. I've worked for Apple in the past and have very often seen entire macs being sent in for basically replacement because the psu failed and took out every other part connected. Defin...

Another method that I found useful with my HX520 was to rip out the psu's fan and stick in a slipstream with a higher starting voltage. That way when you aren't doing anything power intensive your psu fan will actually be at 0rpm. When you start doing things like gaming then you naturally draw more ...

If you're a gamer, and it seems like you are if you're planning on getting a second graphics card, I'd go with the most economical solution for you to save as much money as possible. The cpu really doesn't make that much of a difference in gaming. I'd stick with your current cpu and save that money ...

From what I understand, all your fans are exhausting air from the case. You might want to flip that front fan around to intake air. Having air move in a straight (ish) path from front to rear is much better than air finding its way through the nooks and crannies of your case and out both front and r...

It really doesn't matter. Just do what seems the safest in your case. some heatsinks will block a screw hole for your motherboard so it may be useful to mount your mobo first. I guess the question is whether you're mounting a heatsink onto the motherboard... or mounting a motherboard onto the heatsi...

I just picked up a G15 rev2 last week and I gotta say it's worth the money. I know how important a backlit keyboard is at night even though you have a monitor providing some light. The only nono's about this keyboard are the fact that the keyboard USB ports are USB1.1 (no high speed flash drive tran...

I don't think water cooling is necessary in your system. I'd go with water cooling if you're using high end components and overclocking. If you are concerned about noise, air cooling is sufficient to make your system inaudible. I currently have a 12cm slipstream running at 700rpm on a TRUE on an ath...

All that matters in your case is just to isolate your OS to its own partition. Applications and data can be either on the same or seperate partition. This is best since a format and reinstall of your OS partition will leave most of your applications that you installed on another partition in working...

Technically there has never been a third party with online transactions. If you use services like paypal, you run the risk of losing your money with them because they are not registered as a bank and thus are not bound by the restrictions that actual banks are bound to. Paypal is just so widely used...

I have to disagree that adding foam compromises anything at all (even air flow). It's true that the effects of adding foam is pretty low on the scale and that the effects you benefit won't be significant until you have dealt with all the components first. Ideally you want foam that is both thin and ...

You could try stuffing the foam with some sort of vent or even an air filter. That would help with reducing airflow and noise as well as some bonus filtered air. If you want to keep the high airflow, perhaps completely opening up the vent would be the best option. Another option would be to open up ...
