Re: New Mac tower build
The equipment on the tonymac site is a year old. Sandybridge and not Ivybridge CPUs, Z68 and not Z77, HD 6xxx and not HD 7xxx, etc. I'd look for a Hackintosh site with newer info. Do you have a $ budget in mind for this build? Is this a hobby or a profession for your cousin? While the $300 cheapest...

Re: New Mac tower build
Hello Tonymac is the place to start.... regarding hardware and the rest, they will guide you the whole way... about the 6 core, SandyE are not fully compatible yet with lion, so you are going to have to work around it alot... my sugestion is going with a 2500k or 2700k, a gigabyte z77 or h77 as you ...

Re: Recommendations for a good 16:10 aspect gaming monitor?
I have to recommend you the HP ZR24W, I just love this monitor... Its one of the best IPS monitor I have used, even better than a few NEC I have here at work...
about the consumption, its 50w more, that at the end its not that much for a great monitor...

Re: Silent GTX580?
Truth be told, I don't think you will find a "silent" GTX580... the 580 is quiet with the default cooler, can you make it more quiet? probably, but its a high end card, so it does get hot... I have one, and its quiet when not gaming, but you can hear it whir as soon as you start playing games or str...

Re: Top vents, even on SPCR-recommended cases?
I will have to agree with tim... I have one of the worst case to cool (wavemaster) but since I am in love with that case, I haven't let it go... so since I know I cant fit in that case a dual 580 in sli and a i7 980x without sounding it like turbine, I prefer going silent and use components that hav...

PC temps
I am kind of curious on these temps... could some one shine some light on them, as I think these are a little high, but then again the only thing I hear from my pc is the video card (radeon 5870). all these temps are at semi load, as I am running folding in the background (gpu edition) thanks in adv...

X2O 750 Dual 5.25â€
Well, I'm finishing the last details for water cooling my PC, which is more to silence the CPU and the GPU, than for overclocking or anything else... the CPU is a 920 d0, undervolted to 1.000v. the GPU is a 5870, no overclock on it. the rad is a GTX240 the fans are two gt at 800rpm 7v. the question ...

I doubt that EVGA waterblocks are going to be aluminum, as Swiftech makes their komodo VGA blocks out of copper... there is a better solution (http://www.swiftnets.com/products/MCR-DRIVE.asp) which is reservoir, pump and radiator, all in one... and coming from the same manufacturer that the waterblo...

Undervoltin 920 in RIIE
Hello everyone I'm trying to under volt my CI7 920 D0, and I can get it stable at 1.05v, the thing is that I have it installed in a Rampage II Extreme, which allows setting the voltage, no problem there... the issue is that when the speed step kicks in (drops the speed to 1660 from the 2.66 original...

So basically all you have is 2 gts 120, when I want to use a single gts240... although I know that the temps are not going to be the best, all I want is to keep everything cool and quiet... so I think your temps are a guideline to what I might get... except I'm not going to cool the chipset, so I mi...

cpu + gpu all cooled by a gts 240
Hi all I was wondering if it would be possible to cool a core i7 860 and a radeon 5870 all in a single loop all with a HW gts 240... the thing is that the rad I've already got it, and was thinking of making the pc a little bit more quiet, as the radeon is quiet at iddle (it makes a little hum as sof...

Metal Fan grille
Hello Everyone I have one simple question... does the metal fan grille found in most cases and PSU affect cooling and the flow of the air?? maybe you are asking what kind of fan grill I'm referring to, well for one the one found on the enermax modu +82 http://www.silentpcreview.com/article806-page1....

I know what you mean exactly, those cases are awesome... thats why I still hold on to my wavemaster.... the cooler won't fit... maybe you can find an old Ninja, or buy a ninja2 and remove the bolts.. that will make it fit... coolers that I know for sure fit, are the ninja, the ninja2 (after you remo...

Improving the Wavemaster's airflow
Hi everyone I have a coolermaster wavemaster, which I love, as its sturdy, pretty, and small enough to be moved around... now before everyone goes out and tell me to buy another case with better airflow, I like to say that I´ve had this case for a long time, and it isn't going anywhere as I really ...

hi I have a coolermaster Wavemaster, which I think has the same internal space... I know that the cooler can´t be bigger than 150mm in height, so I´m not so sure the hr1 will fit... for instance, a scythe ninja, fits barely, with the bolts touching the side panel, so look into it before buying the...
