The fortress has a number of problems that remove it from my consideration. The P183 has superior dust filtration, cable management, and looks. It is constructed from better materials, and has room for the CP-850 power supply. EDIT: I have a pair of Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM fans I can use if neces...

Project: Silencing the P183?
Hey guys, it's that time of year again... the time when I decide to build a new rig. Last year's rig was quite a success and needed only a few upgrades over the course of the year. I will be converting that rig into a server, and the new system will take its place. Case: Antec Performance One P183 P...

Jaganath: the slipstream does win, but it doesn't offer the benefits of the magnetic fans. What I want to know is if they have reasonable performance for the power consumption, low noise levels, and if the advertised benefits actually help anything at all. I have 3 TriCool fans I want to replace, an...

I like S-flexes that has magnetics too. They're really quiet and I believe Noctua has some sort of magnetic too. They're quiet no bearing sound and fain motor sound. Noctua's weakest link is blade design. I'd say magnetic bearings are atleast worth of trying $9 S-Flex use fluid dynamic bearing. Noc...

Fans with Magnetic Bearings (Enermax Marathon and the like)
Have you guys used any fans with magnetic bearings before? I've seen 2 major designs for this: one where the motor (really just coiled copper wire) is placed in the center (like a traditional fan) but having the blades connected to the housing magnetically so as to reduce friction, and one where the...

The machine feels a lot more snappy at 3.20GHz than it did at 2.66GHz but that's not a huge concern. By and large, the speed is fantastic either way. I didn't overclock it for gaming performance, though. I do a lot of photoshop work as I am a digital photographer, and batch-processing 2000 10mpx RAW...

I've got a progress update: System is now stable at 3.20GHz (400x8). In order to achieve this, I installed a Noctua NH-U12P with a second NF-P12 fan. Both fans are running at 1300 RPM, and I can't hear anything from them at all. I've also added a GC-RAMDISK with 4GB of DDR1 to silently house my Swap...

If your HD temp's are fine, no need to add a fan in the lower chamber, just use the PSU to generate airflow down there, you can also tape around the grill around the PSU to make sure it doesn't pull any heated air in from the back. Did you remove the VelociRaptor from the cooling sled? Are either o...

Hey all. I'm new to SPCR. I'm an IT Pro by trade, university student during the year, and passionate computer builder. I'm looking for some advice on my current build.
