Re: Opinion on mid-range system (part list)

High-end Asus motherboards like you are considering have Q-Fan control in the bios to control fan speed. But make sure the CPU fan is a 4-pin PWM. Some Asus boards (like mine) have an additional PWM fan header, and a couple fo 4 pin headers. So make sure you get the right fans for the fan headers o...

I should mention that I will be using a Linux distro and my understanding that SSD caching is not supported there so I will not be interested in that feature.

Re: Opinion on mid-range system (part list)

If you are set Z68 board and using the integrated gpu, why not invest a little more and go for the 2500K, the Z68 board will allow OCing if you ever want to and the K versions come with intels 3000 gpus, so imo worth the extra $15 from your price, if you dont benefit from 3000 gpu, then just go wit...

Opinion on mid-range system (part list)

I am a novice in this area so I was hoping an expert could make recommendations on the mid-range system I am trying to build. I intend to use the integrated graphics included on the motherboard. The part I am least certain about is the heatsink. Part list below. Thanks for any advice. Antec P183 V3 ...

75-80 load temps are nothing to worry about for that gpu as you can see if you google some reviews. So game on.

3 Fans at 7V OK?

I'm currently running 2 92mm fans (front) and 1 120mm (rear), both Nexus, in an Antec Solo case. If I was to run all these at 7V would it cause any problems? I'm hoping to avoid frying my PSU (Seasonic X-650). :D I'm planning on using 3x Nexus 3 Speed Fan Cables, which I'd have now if the company I'...

By round switches do you mean small square ones with a round button like this http://roleepolee.com/products/roleepolee/microswitch6167a.jpg These switches are nearly impossible to silence. I have found no reliable way of doing so. The cover cannot be replaced once removed as it is melted on. The sw...

In the first batch that J&W send out, there was no additional fan for the north, but in the packed that i revised it was included .. But i rather change the cooling block to something like thermalright so the cooling could be much better with less noise / heat .. Right now i have a Ninja Mini passiv...

Hey hans007, i have the same board, and is very happy about it :-) But think that the chipset is running a little to hot for my taste, so I'm looking for a replacement for the chipset cooler, but can't find one that will fit over both the 780G northbride and southbridge .. Any idea's ? Have been thi...

If you're using fans for case ventilation then you'd be better off going for the Noctua S12B than the P12. The S12B is not an option because it costs too much and is not available at the shop I'm buying all my components from. I just want something which moves the most air at <25dB. Anyone know wha...

Yeah, the 3 stock fans have speed settings on them. So I can throw them on the lowest setting :) I just know that their cfm must be terrible, which is why I'm looking to get some more fans. I'll be buying a fan controller so I'll turn them down t reasonable levels. In that case it's safe to say you ...

Scythe S-FLEX vs Yate Loon vs Noctua (many options!)

I've ordered a CM690 and I need some fans. It comes with 3x CoolerMaster fans, but I will want some more powerful ones to add to the stock set up. The CoolerMaster fans also come with their own controllers attach to them. Not sure what's the best combination. I can get any of the following for the s...
